2 03 Art and Design ID: 17824, Network: No-MA-ds, Project title: Nordic Master of Arts degree in Dance Studies, Coordinating institution/coordinator: NTNU NORGES TEKNISK- NATURVITENSKAPELIGE UNIVERSITET NO, Egil The purpose is to: Develop a fully joint Nordic degree Master of Arts degree in Dance Studies between the universities of Copenhagen. Stockholm, Tampere and Norwegian University of Science and Technology, bringing Copenhagen in as full partner. Futher we aim to explore and develop a cooperation with theuniversity Vytautas Magnus in Kaunas. The project aims at moving borders between disciplines. It aims at allowing students and teachers to cross borders between countries to visit each other. The program is playing with what have been strict borders between dance genres and between Academia and the Arts. We aim at offering an inspiring, broad, international environment for learning. Participants will have the chance to work at 4 of the most established centres for dance research in the Nordic countries. In this way students will also work with teachers from all the universities through the whole 2 years program. Our students are coming from a variety of dance genres, and for instance both from theatrical and social dancing. Granted funds: Development Project. Fallesnordisk studieprogram i visuel og litterar samtidskunst, Coordinating institution/coordinator: AARHUS UNIVERSITET DK, Bodil Marie Thomsen/norbmst@hum.au.dk Globaliseringen, Norden og kunstens former er et fallesnordisk studieprogram pa MA-niveau, der involverer Arhus Universitet, Universitetet i Oslo, NTNU, Stockholms Universitet, Karlstad Universitet, samt kunstakademiet i Helsingfors. Vi fik for perioden 17. sept oktober 2009 tildelt Vi har pa grund af den sene tildeling af midler valgt at udskyde det intensive sommerkursus til Dette indevarende ars midler bruges saledes kun til videreudvikling af studieprogrammet. Midlerne til sommerkurset tilbagesendes efter bevillingsperiodens ophor og der ansoges saledes om disse midler til anvendelse i tildelingsaret 2009/10. Desforuden soger vi om midler til netvarksaktiviteter for at udvikle studieprogrammets formelle og indholdsmassige sider. Studieprogrammet satter fokus pa et bredt spektrum af samtidskunst, der eksplicit forsoger at afdakke det regionales nye rolle i lyset af globaliseringen. Studieprogrammet beskaftiger sig i denne kontekst specifikt med, hvordan kunsten bidrager til en aktualisering af, hvad der forstas ved Norden i dag. Det er malet at skabe et tvargaende nordisk studium i dette nye felt, hvor kandidater kan fa kompetencer i samtidskunstens anvendelse og kombination af flere medier, herunder dens intervention i defineringen af forholdet mellem det regionale og det globale, og dets artikulation af national og regional kulturel selvforstaelse i en globaliseret verden. Programmet henvender sig til humanistiske kandidater med en BA-grad fra en de involverede astetiske fag, og desuden til ph-d-stipendiater ved alle de nordiske kunstakademier. Kandidaterne far kompetencer i den litterare og visuelle samtidskunsts samfundsmassige interaktion og tvarastetiske praksis med sarlig henblik pa, hvordan den nordiske regions kulturer og steder gentankes og reterritorialiseres i lyset af en globaliseret verden. The Network s aim is to develop the teacher education system and teachership by giving the teachers and student teachers a chance to acquaint themselves with another culture, language and the educational system in the Nordic or Baltic member institutions.by means of a Nordplus mobility period, the project enables the teachers and students to get more in-depth knowledge of the nearby regions and enhance their intercultural and language skills. During this project period, the Network will concentrate on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Intercultural and citizenship education are the guiding themes of the cooperation. Besides student and teacher mobility, the Network also cooperates via network meetings and short visits of the administrative personnel. This year, 3

4 the project put an emphasis in strengthening its ties with the Baltic institutions by promoting mobilities especially between the Nordic and Baltic institutions. The main objectives of the network are 1) to increase the visibility of the work that is being done by Nordic HEI institutions in the field of ICT4D (Information and Communication for Development) by creating a Nordic Center of Excellence in ICT4D, 2) to strengthen, coordinate and develop Nordic research collaboration in ICT4D, 3) to develop joint courses and study programs in the field of ICT4D and 4) to establish a forum to reach and influence high level decision makers in politics and industry. The Nordic Network of Excellence in ICT4D will work towards establishing strategic partnerships with Nordic state agencies, industrial enterprises and NGOs for the promotion of ICT in various development contexts. The network will also establish cooperation and partnerships with international actors in the area of ICT4D and promote South-South cooperation in the area of ICT. A concrete result of the project is a launch Nordic Center of Excellence in ICT4D which will continue its operation after the project period. The work of the Center is underpinned and reflected by the Nordic values, e.g. equality, trust, proximity of power, inclusion, pragmatism and flexibility. The Nordic center strives for academic excellence in ICT which guarantees high quality and international attractiveness. The Center will also facilitate establishment of a Nordic selection for ICT4D curriculum (e.g. joint study programs, wide selection of courses). The Center of Excellence in ICT4D is thematically profiled based on the strengths on the Nordic research on ICT applications in Nordic society - ICT in education, health, innovation, knowledge. The Center will also work closely with external stakeholders, for example, the activities of the center will be supported by high profile of international advisory board. In the long run, the Nordic Center of Excellence in ICT4D works towards defining strategies and policies for the introduction, sustainable development and management of ICT4D projects. The center supports the contextualized use and development of ICT to support socio-economic development, the efficiency of organisations and the quality of life of people in developing countries. The center will also promote ICT as a tool for international development by creating awareness on its importance. The Nordic Center of Excellence supports the formation and dissemination of knowledge and competence in the field of ICT4D in Nordic countries and beyond. The center will assists developing countries in definition of their ICT strategies and assure a participatory approach to the use of ICT. One main issue of the centre's operation is the (re-)use of Open Educational Resources, such as curricula, learning resources. The Nordic Center of Excellence will collaborate with other existing Nordic Institutes, such as the Nordic Africa Institute, the Nordic Institute of Asia Studies and the Nordic Institute for Urban and Regional 4

5 Planning. The Nordic Center of Excellence in ICT4D will have a rotating chair, which will be selected from partners involved actively in the activities of the center. I Sverige förekommer inte ämnet folkloristik som självständigt ämne. Av denna orsak ar det viktigt att både lärare och studenter kan ta del av den folkloristiska kännedom som finns i Norge, Finland och Island. Det nordiska samarbetet ar i dagens läge ytterst viktigt eftersom ämnet folkloristik gatt miste om det nordiska samarbetsorganet Nordiskt nätverk for folkloristik (NNF) och dess föregångare Nordiskt institut for folkdiktning (NIF) bada finansierade av Nordiska ministerrådet. Målet för verksamheten inom nätverket ar att ge studenterna tillgång till kvalitativt högt stående undervisning i de nordiska länderna och insikt i ämnesområden som det egna universitetet inte kan bidra med. Gällande lärarutbytet skulle detta nätverk befrämja redan etablerade forskarkontakter och ge upphov till nya kontakter. Också på ett högskole-pedagogiskt plan skulle detta nätverk kunna bidra med nya insikter for lärarna. The revival of this Nordplus network is seen as a tool by all partners in the network for the development of the subject. The network is a continuation of the only existing, all Nordic archaeology network, which started in the 90 s 5

6 and now includes partner institutions in the Baltic States. The network which also includes osteology has during the last nine years solely been engaged in student mobility schemes and there has been no networking activities which now needs to be initiated by enabling the teachers of partner institutions of the network to meet around issues of common interest such as teacher mobility and the creation of joint courses and programs focused on common interests tied to interactions and change observed in our archaeological remains. Placement possibilities have so far not been a part of the student mobility scheme but should be included in this application considering the need for archaeology student to enhance their employability by being offered a possibility to work in a private or public institution/ enterprise in the field. This would enable new inputs from the sector into curriculum development of benefit for the sector and the entrepreneurial skills of students. Teacher mobility should therefore also permit the inclusion of teacher from the public/private sphere although no such partners have yet been included in this application. Meanwhile such contacts exist and will be used. The reason for the increased amount of mobility applied for to Sweden is that a new coordinating institution, Gotland University, has taken over the coordination of this archaeology project after Kalmar University and that past experience from mobility flows showed student mobility flows mainly to Sweden. The reason for this might be that such subjects as Osteology does not exist at the same advanced level as in Sweden and that some programs at Swedish universities offer programs in archaeology in English. During the present academic year 2008/2009 flows have also been going to Norway. Furthermore Gotland University is also one of the few HEI:s (Higher Educational Institutions) in the network offering a semester or two in English at its International Archaeology program launched in the academic year 2007/2008. This will obviously change as the network and planning meeting engaging all participating institutions will start. Gotland University being the coordinating institution from the academic year 2008/2009 will be the natural meeting point for a kick-off meeting in October 2009 initiating the network and for planning meeting for the continuation of the network. As part of the revival of the network there should be an opening for all participating universities to alternate at a decided interval to be the coordinator of the network which will serve as a stimulator for the development of the archaeology/osteology subject at participating HEIs as well as in the network itself. 7 This is a network principally devoted to student and staff mobility in the field of philosophy. Priority is given to longer-term exchanges: semester-length study abroad for students and teaching exchanges of two to four weeks. Such exchanges help to make effective use of academic resources, to provide students and staff with a broadened perspective and valuable life experience, and conduce to Nordic (and Nordic-Baltic) cooperation and integration. In addition to its present Nordic partners (which number seventeen) and present Baltic partners (which number three), the network now aims to revitalize a former partner, the University of Tromso, and add the Vytautus Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania, and Tallinn University in Estonia, in order to broaden the exchange program. This is in keeping with the project's current annual priority. Det overordna malet til nettverket er a bidra til at Norden framleis skal vere eit levande sprak- og kulturfellesskap, 7

The main purpose of the Baltic-Nordic Network on Education in Survey Statistics is to strengthen co-operation between universities, government agencies and statistical associations in the Baltic and Nordic countries on education in survey statistics and related statistical applications. The mobility, network and project activities described in this application involve the implementation of student and teacher mobility schemes, the organization of workshops, conferences and university-level intensive courses in survey statistics, the development of curriculum for joint university-level education programmes in survey statistics, andthe extension of the network to cover new academic and other partner institutions from the Balticand Nordic countries.the activities for the three forthcoming academic years will be carried out by the participatinguniversities, University of Helsinki, Finland, University of Umea and University of Stockholm,Sweden, University of Tartu, Estonia, Vilnius University and Institute of Mathematics andinformatics, Lithuania, and University of Latvia. The main target groups are students and teachersin higher education institutions. In addition, statisticians of National Statistical Institutes and National Statistical Societies of the participating countries are expected to attend some of thenetwork activities, the workshops and conferences in particular. This facilitates our aim to involve into Network activities eligible organizations and institutions having vested interests in the area of higher education in survey statistics. By successfully implementing these activities we expect extended, better established and more productive cooperation between higher education institutions of the Baltic and Nordic countries on education in survey statistics. The aim of the programme is to educate environmental specialists, who are capable for independent and innovative work in the current and future challenges related to global climate change and environmental pollution. The programme is very multidisciplinary, involving a versatile education on atmospheric sciences covering physical phenomena, atmospheric chemistry, meteorology, and ecosystem studies. Part of the content of the programme is related to the interactions between the ecosystems and the atmosphere. All the education of the programme is given in English. The approximate study period is two years and includes 120 ECTS of studies. The ABS network consists of ten universities in four Nordic and Baltic countries, which are among the top-rated research units in the world. The programme has many effects in the society, including the deepening of the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in environmental education, the idea of lifelong learning, enhancing student and teacher mobility, and adaptation to the requirements of the Bologna process. 13 Nordplus netvarket i medier og kommunikation har som mal at fremme udveksling af studerende og undervisere mellem institutioner, som giver undervisning i forskellige aspekter af fagfeltet medier og kommunikation i Norden, herunder ogsa film. Fagfeltet medier og kommunikation er meget bredt, og der gives ikke lige specialiseret undervisning inden for alle omrader pa de i netvarket deltagende institutioner. Faget dakker i stikordsform: kommunikationsformer, mediesamfundet, medieinstitutioner, mediebudskaber, mediereception og publikum, og omfatter forskningsretninger/specialiseringer som massekommunikation, medievidenskab, journalistik, filmvidenskab, medieteknologi, nye medier. Netvarket omfatter de vigtigste miljoer i Norden, som giver undervisning i medier og kommunikation, herunder ogsa film - i alt 15 institutioner fra de 5 nordiske lande og Gronland. Der soges derfor netvarksmidler samt mobilitetsstipendier for studerende og undervisere for i alt18 samarbejdspartnere - 1 applicant/koordinator (Institut for Informationsog Medievidenskab, Aarhus Universitet) og 17 co-applicants.
