2 JE: Kommentarer: Det hele var Arch Klump s ide som RI president i mands ide ligesom Poul Harris. Det første bidrag kom fra en klub I Kansas og var på 26,50 $. Det akkumulerede beløb er gennem årene blevet til ialt 2,5 milliarder dollars! Og siden 1947 er der ydet bidrag til programmerne på ialt 2,4 milliarder dollars! I fonden er der værdier for næsten 900 mio. dollars.!

4 DOING GOOD IN THE WORLD hvad og hvordan The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International (TRF) er en fond, hvis primære formue kommer fra Rotarianeres frivillige bidrag. Formålet med fonden er på verdensplan at skabe forståelse, fred og venskab mellem mennesker uanset nationalitet, race eller religion. Gennem at fremme sundhed; støtte uddannelse og afhjælpe fattigdom.

5 The Rotary Foundation: Info vedr.: Total Awards & Expenses. This slide shows the trend in awards and expense spending during the past ten years. Even though donor commitment to the Foundation remains strong, we saw a reduction in Annual Programs Fund Contributions. Since the humanitarian and educational program awards and expenses are primarily funded by the Annual Programs Fund, these reductions in contributions, along with the decrease in value of the investments means there is less money available to fund awards and expenses. The Trustees made some difficult decisions to reduce program spending in fiscal year 2009 and Program Operations, Fund Dev, and General Administration expenses have been reduced wherever possible. In reviewing the ratio of Program Awards to expenses, the Foundation is still well above the benchmark. Over the past 10 years, 87% of the Foundations total spending has been on programs. This percentage has ranged from 92% in FY 08 to 84% in FY 06, when program spending had been reduced due to the reduction in the Foundation s reserves. Note that the Foundation s program spending percentage increased from 2007 to This compares favorably with US benchmarks (such as the Better Business Bureau) that stipulate at least 65% of a Foundation s expenses should be for programs. We will show you the composition of program award spending on the next slide.

6 The Rotary Foundation: Info vedr. Trends in Program Awards. This chart shows the trend in program spending during the past ten years. The spending numbers include both program awards and expenses. You can see that the Educational Program spending has remained steady during this period. Although the number of Ambassadorial Scholars has declined in recent years, this has been offset by increased spending to support the Rotary Centers for Peace and Conflict Resolution. Total spending on Humanitarian Programs declined in both 2003 & 2004 due to a decline in funds available to support the matching grants program and the suspension of the 3-H program. Note however that in 2005 Humanitarian Program spending increased by over $17 million principally resulting from increases in matching grant awards ($9.6 million) and approximately $5.5 for Solidarity in South Asia (Tsunami). In FY09, WF for humanitarian spending decline primarily due to the current economic conditions and as a means to conserve WF. PolioPlus program. Over the past 5 years, PolioPlus spending has fluctuated between $26 and $129 million per year. Note that the successful Polio Eradication Fundraising Campaign replenished the PolioPlus Fund, enabling the Foundation to sustain this spending level through Fiscal year 2008 to 2010 increases include the PolioPlus challenge grants.
