2 THE COMPETITION Presented by the International Interior Design Association and sponsored by Vitra, the Booth Design Competition at Orgatec 2016 gives students the opportunity to design and transform a trade show booth and gain exposure by having their design concept executed at a global trade show. ELIGIBILITY This competition is open to students worldwide who are currently enrolled in an Interior Design/Architecture program or university. Participants can enter individually or as a team (maximum of 3 people). IMPORTANT DATES Competition Opens Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 Deadline to Enter Tuesday, March 1, 2016 AWARDS The winning design concept will be chosen by international design experts. The winner (or winning team) will receive a trip to Orgatec Trade Fair in Cologne Germany, October 25 29, 2016 to execute their design concept, as well as a day trip to the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein. The winning design concept also will be featured on the IIDA website, in DesignMatters (IIDA biweekly newsletter), QUAD (IIDA student newsletter), and on the Vitra website. ENTRY FEES 1. IIDA Student Members: $ Non- Members: $70.00 (includes IIDA Student membership through Dec. 31, 2016). a. Non- members are required to submit a membership application and supporting documents by March 1, 2016, in order to receive membership under the above promotion. A membership application will be available to download on the competition entry form and is also below. Do not apply online separately. b. No refunds allowed if you do not take advantage of the promotion and submit required documentation by March 1, c. Membership offer not valid for team entries. 3. Team Entries: IIDA Student Member: $30 (at least one student on the team must be an IIDA Student Member) 4. Team Entries: Non- Members: $70 (does not include membership offer)

3 THE CHALLENGE Your challenge is to design and transform a trade show booth (approximately 28m 2 or 300 square feet) into a branded, visually inspiring, and original IIDA Lounge at Orgatec The winning design concept will serve as the IIDA Lounge at Orgatec 2016.* The booth should be an inviting and visually attractive space that emphasizes the IIDA Brand as the Commercial Interior Design Association. The booth should function as a stand- out exhibition explaining who IIDA is, what IIDA represents globally, and why membership in IIDA is a valuable resource for both Commercial Interior Designers and Manufacturers. Your Design Concept should accommodate the following basic functions: 1. Create an area for IIDA to greet and engage members and potential members attending Orgatec. 2. Create a meeting area to accommodate up to six (6) people. This area could also function as a respite for IIDA Members, as well as serve as an area that allows for IIDA Members to have informal client meetings. 3. Branding: Showcase IIDA logo and adhere to IIDA brand guidelines and style. It will be critical to create and design a branded booth that visually attracts and engages the attendees. a. The IIDA Logo should be prominent and incorporated without any alteration to the graphic identity. b. The booth should embrace the IIDA Strategic Mission and Vision Position Statement: IIDA exists to provide relevant and meaningful support to Commercial Interior Design professionals and their clients. IIDA promotes the value of Interior Design to business decision makers and the general public. IIDA stands at the intersection of passion and strategy where Designers create exceptional environments that encompass every aspect of the human experience. 4. Your final design concept must include a minimum of (2) custom designed elements or details. As your design concept is original, we want this booth to look and feel it was created specifically for Orgatec Because this is a working booth, the following elements are required: reception desk/greeting kiosk, wall feature/backdrop and storage for promotional materials. 5. Vitra is the Sponsor of this competition. All design concepts should incorporate only Vitra furniture and/or products or furnishings with the final layout/concept. *IIDA reserves the right to alter the final design, in working with the winning student(s), to fit the needs of the booth, space and overall mission of IIDA.

4 VITRA PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS Design solutions must incorporate a selection of furniture from the following Vitra product lines: ACCESSORIES us/living/product/category/accessories FURNITURE SYSTEMS + MICROARCHITECTURE us/office/product/category/office- systems us/office/product/category/micro- architeture JEAN PROUVÉ LINE us/office/product/designer/jean- prouv SEATING us/office/product/category/officechairs us/office/product/category/chairs us/office/product/category/arm- and- loungechairs STORAGE us/office/product/category/office- storage us/living/product/category/storage- and- partition- elements TABLES us/living/product/category/tables us/living/product/category/couch- and- side- tables

5 JUDGING CRITERIA The final Design Concepts will be judged based on the following criteria: 1. Innovation and creativity & IIDA Brand Recognition 30% 2. Coherence and functionality 30% 3. Fulfillment of submission requirements and additional contributions above and beyond the basic program 20% 4. Final digital presentation 20% SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS Your project must be submitted digitally through the competition website by March. 1, 2016, 11:59 p.m. Central time. Each submission must include the following: 1. Project/Contact Info (entry form) a. Participant name(s) b. Member ID (if a current member) c. Project title d. Contact info e word project description outlining your concept 2. (1) 24 x36 digital presentation board in PDF format not to exceed 20MB, containing: a. (3) Dimensional floor plan for each floor drawn to scale and/or furniture plan (these may be combined) b. (2) Booth wall plan (applied graphics, textiles, paint etc.) c. (1) to (3) Renderings d. Additional drawings (elevation, perspective, isometric, axonometric, orthographic) e. Additional elements to convey the overall concept including, but not limited to furniture and fixture specifications, color palettes, wall sections, electrical plans, schedules, additional renderings, etc. f. File name: BDC + initials_board (BDCATW_board.pdf) NOTE: Do not place your name or other identifying information on your board or you may be disqualified. 3. Individual JPEG digital submissions of the (10) to (12) required drawings/ renderings outlined above saved as: a. JPEG format b. RGB color mode c. Maximum size of 1MB per image d. File name: BDC + initials_number (BDCATW_1.jpg) e. Document dimensions: not to exceed 11 x17 NOTE: Do not place your name or other identifying information on your images or you may be disqualified.

7 iida international logo - The IIDA logo must never be used smaller than one inch wide or 75 pixels wide. The black text IIDA international logo is the primary logo for print and digital applications. The secondary and inverted logos are additional options available for use. You may download the IIDA logo here. Primary Logo Secondary Logo Inverted Logo logo usage - Do not remove portions of the logo, distort the shape, crop, add, or create alternate logos. - Do not use the logo in any print or digital application smaller than 1 inch wide or 75 pixels wide. It is important to retain the integrity of the IIDA logo. The IIDA logotype and International Interior Design Association logotype must always appear together, unaltered. The free space surrounding the logo on all sides must equal the measurement of the logo width. For example, if the logo is 2 inches wide the white space surrounding the logo must equal 2 inches, or 0.5 inches of white space on each side. - You may use the approved block letter IIDA logo for digital applications and promotional material only (see next page). * Free Space: If X = 1.5 inches, the free space around the logo on each side must be inches.
