2 Editorial 21 st century cosmetics is as always driven by consumer needs which require perceived performance. Cosmetic science is now at the forefront of product innovation: it covers 3 major aspects: Development of new tools for efficacy, Development of new approaches for well-being, Engagement towards societal responsibility. The IFSCC congress is the only congress dedicated to Cosmetic sciences enabling academic and industry scientists to exchange ideas and discover newest technologies in different related fields. After 16 years, the IFSCC Congress comes back to France. La Société Française de Cosmétologie is proud to host in Paris the 28 th IFSCCC Congress: Cosmetic innovation & Performance for Beauty and Wellbeing We look forward to welcoming you. KEY CONGRESS FACTS : 743 abstract submissions from 34 countries were anonymously reviewed by 70 international experts. Out of those, 72podium presentations have been selected and will cover equally each congress theme. Also, more than 600 posters will be presented during the three days of the Congress. All posters may be viewed daily for up to 3 hours during the breaks between podium presentations. Lunches and coffee breaks will be served in the exhibition area. 3 PARIS th CONGRESS October 27 th to 30 th Congress topics BEAUTY AND LIFE SCIENCES A deep understanding of the biology of skin and hair helps to prevent aging through the latest discoveries on stem cells, omics technologies, self-repair mechanisms of skin damages, cell to cell interactions. BEAUTY & SENSORIALITY Cosmetics is primarily a matter of surprise for the senses. Polysensory is now part of any hedonistic, all day long experience of wellness. Smells, textures and tastes can enhance one s beauty and self-esteem leading to a better quality of life. A physical contact with velvety-smooth formulations or deeply sensual fragrances will trigger emotions, stimulate senses and put you in the mood for wellness. BEAUTY & SOCIETY The cosmetic industry has a responsibility to society in terms of product development, from the moment the formula is conceived until the end of the product s life cycle. The industry is clearly striving to control its environmental impact and respect the biodiversity of its raw materials. All this is considered a source of innovation in an increasingly competitive economic environment. BEAUTY & SURFACE SHIELD The primary function of a cosmetic product is to protect skin, hair and nails from environmental and UV damages, as well as ensuring the integrity of the skin protecting barrier. Knowing how to control the interactions between relevant ingredients leads to new textures providing pleasant skin/hair feel and enabling comprehensive protection. BEAUTY & COLOUR Consumers are looking for an even and flawless skin, vibrant and shiny hair, which requires new technologies to assess the efficacy of the products and innovative ingredients. BEAUTY & PROTECTIVE STRATEGIES Innovative approaches including delivery technologies and original evaluation methods are needed to prevent oxidative damages and to induce and protect various defenses and repair mechanisms of the skin/hair. 3
