RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that this report including these itemized statements on remuneration and expenses paid to members of council and to each person other than a member of council appointed by municipality to serve as a member of local board, be received for information purposes. 2 REFERENCE: You will find enclosed (Schedule A and b) these itemized statements of the amount paid to each member of the council of the municipality for the year 2009 and to each person, other than a member of council, appointed by the municipality to serve as a member of a local board, in respect of his or her services as a member of the body. These statements shall identify the by-laws under which the remuneration or expenses were authorized to be paid. The annual remuneration for members of council was calculated in accordance with the provisions of bylaws # The expenditures incurred by members of council acting in their official capacity (registration costs, per diem, transportation costs, mileage, accommodation and meals ) were reimburse by the municipality in accordance with the provisions of by-laws # and # A discretionary budget has also been allowed to the mayor and councillors with the approval of the budget 2009 and each expense included in the statement of disbursements is submitted to council at the regular or extraordinary meetings for approval. The remuneration for persons other than a member of council was calculated in accordance with the provisions of by-laws # , # , # and # HISTORY Pursuant to Section 284 (1) of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, c.25 and amendments thereto the treasurer of a municipality shall in each year on or before march 31 provide to the council of the municipality an itemized statement on remuneration and expenses paid in the previous year to each member of council in respect of his or her services as member of the council including a local board to which the member has been appointed by council. He (she) shall also provide an itemized statement on remuneration to each person, other than a member of council, appointed by municipality to serve as a member of a local board, in respect of his or her services as a member of a body. Despite the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, statements provided are public records.
