3 02 At the center of our business Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) helps oil and gas to flow through the BP system by selling what we produce and buying it for our refineries. Through this, IST touches 85% of all our oil, gas, power and chemical trading activities so that over 80% of BP s turnover flows through the team. Meet Meera, Operations Program Coordinator London International Management & Spanish, University of Bath Historically IST has been based in the Western Hemisphere, where we did most of our production and refining. But as the attentions of the energy market are moving south and east to Brazil, India, China, other parts of Africa and the Middle East, IST is following and growing our footprint in those territories. To do so, it s vital we have a local presence on the ground specialists who understand the businesses, the companies, the relationships and the cultures. As we develop these local relationships with national oil companies, we believe that it is our high ethical standards that will mark us out as a partner of choice and give us the long-term competitive edge. Our 3,250 employees (including 300 traders and 200 originators) are mainly based in our five trading hubs. In all our offices, you can see the passion, ambition and enthusiasm we have for working at the cutting edge of trading. And because we work with other energy companies, financial institutions and a host of other organizations, our people have wide exposure and career development opportunities within BP as well. We have 12,000 customers across over 140 countries I joined BP 10 months ago and the most surprising thing about it is the size! You can t really fathom the complexities and intricacies of such a large multinational organization until you work for one. And because of this, you realize how integrated the teams have to be and just how many opportunities there are for you. I ve grown in so many ways, but the most noticeable changes are my increased independence and confidence. I m now comfortable presenting to people of all ages and answering their questions too.

4 04 We deliver enough oil to power over 100 million car journeys around the equator A truly global outlook We re spread across five principal businesses: our oil businesses in the Americas, Asia and Europe, a gas business in North America, and a gas business in Europe that also encompasses our Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) offering. And we sell everything that comes out of the ground from our exploration and production colleagues, be it oil or gas. We buy everything that goes into our refining systems, airports, and retail sites and then sell all the surplus, taking entrepreneurial positions in the markets to make extra money. Beyond trading crude oil and natural gas and products derived from them, we also trade anything that goes across a traded platform be that foreign exchange for the group, interest rates, emissions, biofuels or the derivatives of biofuels, which are used to make agricultural products. Trading at BP is a global business. We have four main regional offices. Houston and Chicago covering North and South America, a third in London covering Europe and North Africa, and a fourth in Singapore covering the Middle East and Asia. We find the best bid on the market for BP s crude oil and for our refineries products, while Gas Trading Europe (GTEL) and LNG markets our upstream gas. Beyond trading, we have a vast array of vitally important functions that help the whole business fit together from operations, to analytics, to risk, to legal. Two of the most important are Finance and Technology. Finance is a global function and plays a very important role in upholding the IST Control Framework. There s Product Control, Reporting and Accounting, Business Services, Planning and Performance Management, Control and Accounting Policy. Between them, these six groups touch all aspects of our trading business. On the front end of the transaction pipeline, they re responsible for clearing all new counterparties to make sure they meet our business conduct standards. They also support all the contract administration for any of the agreements the traders make with our counterparties. In the middle of the transaction pipeline they provide management information that helps guide decision makers, including on trading positions and the profit and loss of all of our trading books. On the back end of the pipeline, they re responsible for the cash settlements of all of our trading activity. The groups also report on all this activity internally and externally. Our Technology group is around a quarter of the IST population, which reflects the importance of managing information through great technology IST's systems process 2.8 million financial transactions and 0.7 million physical transactions every year. In the front office they provide competitive advantage through connectivity to exchanges, supporting pre-trade analytics and optimizing the physical trading that is a key part of our business. And in the mid and back-office, the systems that our technology group provides allow many transactions to run front-to-back without intervention from the mid and back-office business, which frees up those teams to focus their attentions elsewhere. 1. The collaboration and teaching that I have experienced here at BP has shattered that perception. Sitting and listening to the way other traders think and form ideas has been invaluable. What s more, in the two years I ve been here my roles have carried true significance and I ve made a tangible impact. Commercial Every year, BP invests billions of dollars searching for new sources of energy and supplying our customers with the fuels they need. Professional qualifications are supported. Marketing and Origination We re always looking for opportunities to expand our network of assets. On this program, you ll help maintain and enhance customer relationships, as well as grow our ability to create value across the entire natural gas value chain. You ll also help form long-term arrangements with our customers and help to develop our financial offers. All of our graduate programs are rotational and designed with your individual development at their core. During the program, you will experience a world-class learning journey that incorporates online and virtual learning with face-to-face classroom and on-the-job-training. 6 08 How to see more From the aptly named Discovery Days, to summer and year-long internships, through to the online trading simulations and events, there are lots of ways to experience IST beyond our graduate programs. Some of these opportunities are specific to particular locations, so check the website to find the best route for you. Our two or three-year rotational graduate program will give you the skills you need to build a career in IST and our internships are often a great way into the program. Our exciting, five-day Discovery Week and Sophomore Experience offers a select group of first year students a unique insight into the breadth of opportunity in IST. As part of the program you will meet many people from our business, learn about specific roles and gain experience through hands-on activities. It s also a great way to secure an internship with us for the following summer. Our paid summer internships offer invaluable real-world experience. Lasting from weeks, they take place in the summer before your final year. During the internship you will be assessed for a place on one of our graduate programs. Normally completed in the penultimate year of your degree, our year-long paid internships are a perfect stepping stone to a permanent career with us. Indeed, like our summer interns, you will be assessed for a place on one of our graduate programs.

During my time here, I ve learnt how to tailor my communications to my audience and not be afraid to express my views the people here listen to good ideas and analytical views regardless of your experience. Singapore Graduates 1st September th September 2014 Interns 12th January st January 2015 As part of the graduate program, I ve opted for consecutive international assignments first in Australia (where I spent time on-site at a BP refinery), then in the UK. Relocating and settling down quickly to deliver is no easy task; the fact that I ve done this twice in a row is really satisfying. But this has presented me with lots of opportunities. The lack of hierarchy, wealth of knowledge and experience BP can offer is unbelievable. It s somewhere I feel I can contribute to its continued growth.

Take some time to consider and prepare your application though, as it s designed to help you show your talents to the full. In the UK you will also be invited to complete a Situational Judgment Questionnaire, which is based on BP s Value and Behaviors. 03 Initial assessment If your application is successful we will be keen to test if you have the technical skills needed for the program and the behaviors we look for throughout BP. We will want to know about your numerical and verbal skills, personal attributes and experience, and technical knowledge. Depending on the particular program and location, the format of the assessment will vary and may comprise online, on-campus, telephone, or face-to-face interviews. 04 Assessment center If you re applying for a graduate position, the final stage is an assessment center. This consists of a series of different scenarios some individual, some group-based all derived from the type of work you might be doing here at BP. 05 Offer We ll be in touch as soon as we can after your assessment. Whatever the outcome, you will be offered feedback on your application at this stage.
