Marie/Full Time Description: Provide a wide array of psychological/behavioral support services for adults and children with disabilities. Provide psychological testing, consultation, behavioral assessments, as well as development and monitoring of behavioral programs. Will work extensively with persons diagnosed with developmental disabilities in both residential and clinical settings. Provides direct oversight and responsibility for all behavioral support services, including continued effort toward quality improvement and enhancement. The Behavioral Psychologist provides supervision to Behavioral Support program and personnel. Qualifications: Master s Degree in Psychology. Possession of a valid State of Michigan Registration as a Licensed Psychologist or Limited Licensed Psychologist is preferred. A minimum of one year's experience performing psychological testing. Experience with behavioral analysis and the development of effective behavioral treatment plans. Experience working with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Proficient written, verbal, and customer services communications skills. Proficient computer skills Possess a valid driver's license; and provide own transportation. STATUS: SUPERVISION: POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Exempt, Salaried Position DD Services Manager Behavioral Support Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Experience: Other: Possession of a Master's Degree in Psychology or be certified as a BCBA. A minimum of one year's experience performing psychological testing. Experience with behavioral analysis and the development of effective behavioral treatment plans. Experience working with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Possession of a valid State of Michigan Registration as a Licensed Psychologist or Limited Licensed Psychologist is preferred. Must possess the ability to write reports, clinical correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Board members, managers, consumers and the general public. Computer skills necessary. Must be able to perform a latitude of projects at one time and be accountable for continued progress. Must be able to meet rigid deadlines and perform quality work in an efficient manner. Must be able to work cooperatively with agency staff, consumers and the general public. Appointment subject to criminal background check. Must possess a valid driver s license and be able to provide own transportation. Typical Duties: 1. Conduct and complete psychological testing and/or functional behavioral assessments as necessary. Results of the assessments preformed must rule out relavant physical, medical and environmental causes of challenging behavior. 2. Develop behavioral treatment plans as requested and authorized to reduce maladaptive behaviors and promote independent functioning in the least restrictive setting for mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults and children. Behavioral treatment plans are written and implemented according to Applied Behavior Analysis which is the
3 study of behavior based on the principles of operant and respondent conditioning theory. HBH promotes the development of behavior plans that include positive behavior supports and non-restrictive and non-intrusive behavioral interventions, utilizing more intrusive and/or restrictive measure when a less restrictive behavior plan is not successful in keeping the individual safe. 3. Ensure psychological testing and behavioral assessments involve measurable analysis of antecedent behavior to aberrant behavior, the aberrant behavior itself and continued monitoring to reveal the consequences of behavior interventions. The Behavioral Psychologist, as needed, redesigns behavioral intervention to achieve client goals. 4. Provide training to persons implementing behavioral plans and monitors plans accordingly. 5. Acts a member of and cooperates with the Behavioral Treatment Committee (BTC). Behavior plans requiring intrusive and/or restrictive measures must be reviewed and approved through BTC. Behavioral Psychologist will work in conjunction with BTC when writing and implementing such plans. 6. Provide therapeutic services to people with emergency, crisis and other dysfunctional behaviors using various modalities of treatment. 7. Complete home visits as necessary to implement treatment plans and for in-home monitoring and training. 8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records; prepare related reports involving clinical caseload, diagnostic and treatment activities and services. 9. Communicate with guardians, family and other significant others as requested. 10. Participate in Person Centered Plans upon request. 11. Conduct court order psychological testing as directed. 12. Provide emergency/crisis intervention services as assigned/directed. 13. Represent the agency to the community, relatives, or other interested persons or agencies in such a way that fosters understanding of the emotional needs of the clients and goals of HBH programs. 14. Provides direction and supervision for Behavioral Support Services program and personnel, to include participation in recruiting staff, conducting performance reviews, and other supervisory functions as needed.
4 15. Monitors progress of Agency goals within program area. 16. Participate in workshops, meetings, conferences and serve on committees as requested. 17. Speak before interested groups on HBH related topics. 18. Subscribe to the clinical principles and philosophy of the Person Centered Planning Process. 19. Promotes the use of positive supports in a culture of gentleness as a means to interact with the people served in the public mental health system. Help individuals who exhibit behaviors that put themselves or others at risk of harm feel safe and valued in the environments where they receive services. 20. Understand and support the philosophy of recovery and consistently develop and implement mental health services that are strength-based and promote consumers personal wellness, sense of hope, and community integration. 21. Knowledge of computers and ability to use on a regular basis. 22. Abide by the policies and procedures of Hiawatha Behavioral Health and all applicable policies and procedures required by federal and state regulations. Vision capabilities sufficient for documentation and observation of behaviors. Maintain composure and use good judgment in crisis situations Ability to transport self to and from specified job sites.
