1 SOUTHWEST COUNSELING SERVICE JOB DESCRIPTION Employee: Position Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional Salary Range: 46 Direct Supervisor: Manager of Mental Health Services Position Supervised: Not applicable Supervision: Minimum of one and one half-hours weekly. Summary: The Licensed Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing direct clinical Services to clients of Southwest Counseling Service. The overall purpose is to provide quality service delivered with dignity and respect for the client and community. This service is aimed at improving the client s overall mental health, and generating increased community wellness. The Licensed Mental Health Professional will practice in an ethical manner, work with colleagues and clients with respect and will be subject to supervision of his/her activities. An assigned Manager or any member of the management team will supervise the Licensed Mental Health Professional. Job Environment: The Licensed Mental Health Professional will generally perform the job in a normal office or community environment. Case management, in-home interventions, or on-call emergency services may require the Licensed Mental Health Professional to perform job functions in the hospital, jail, or community. In some instance the Licensed Mental Health Professional may be required to transport clients. In any circumstance, the environment for service provision will be as safe as possible. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Completion of a Master s Degree in a clinical program that is regionally accredited and that is primarily oriented to mental health service delivery. 2. Eligibility for licensure in the State of Wyoming as well as acquisition and maintenance of that license to practice and to obtain maximum insurance reimbursement. 3. Completion of a supervised clinical experience, preferably as part of the degree program, comprising a minimum of 200 hours. 4. Eligibility and ability to maintain professional liability insurance provided by SCS. 5. Ability to pass a criminal background investigation or demonstrate rehabilitation. 6. Ability to pass a Department of Motor Vehicle check, maintain a current driver s license and maintain current insurance when the job necessitates staff to transport clients.

2 7. Proficient with a computer and the required software programs of SCS. Required Skills and Abilities: 1. Capable of performing diagnosis using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual currently in use. 2. Capable of adequate communication with staff and clients to include the listening and talking skills related to verbal psychotherapies, and basic relationship communication with fellow staff. 3. Capable of performing written, dictated, or typed record keeping and correspondence as it relates to job functions. 4. Ability to meet deadlines, including those, which may be difficult to meet, and meet productivity standards. 5. Capable of rapport building with clients to facilitate their engagement in the psychotherapy process. 6. Familiarity with generally accepted concepts, techniques and procedures of evaluation and psychotherapeutic treatment. 7. Capable of comprehending, editing, interpreting, and organizing written materials. 8. Capable of functioning as a team member including skills of cooperation, consultation, and appropriate referral. 9. Capable of appropriately seeking and utilizing clinical and administrative supervision.

3 Essential Job Functions (Professional): All job functions will be performed and evaluated in accordance with SCS Policies and Procedures. The Licensed Professional will adhere to the ethical standards of his/her profession, SCS Code of Ethics, and SCS Code of Conduct. Direct Service Hours Meets or exceeds the set number of direct service hours for performance year Quality Clinical Services Maintain a caseload, provide clinical services upon demand without lapse in coverage, and accepts new clients in accordance with the procedures and needs of SCS. Performs timely and thorough professional quality assessments that result in a broad picture of treatment needs, including co-occurring disorders when appropriate. Clinical diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress notes are congruent and adhere to best practices and quality standard of care. Documents symptoms, course of treatment and provides comprehensive clinical services. Provides crisis intervention services to stabilize clients. Works collaboratively with clients to effectively address mental health and substance abuse issues. Identifies, provides and/or arranges for case management services ensuring quality wrap around services for clients. Emergency Services Provides quality and timely emergency services by phone, face-to-face, hospital or jail based services. Completes accurate and timely crisis paperwork that results in the maximum reimbursement allowed by payor. Crisis paperwork will accurately document all crisis activities while on-call. Provides on-call emergency back up to colleagues as needed. Paperwork Standards Maintains a low error rate for clinical charting items on completeness audits and monthly billing review. (5% error rate or below as evidenced by QA Reviews) Interprets and generates reports/correspondence of professional quality in a timely fashion. Completes paperwork relevant to billing procedures, including pre-certification and re-certification for care.

4 Turns in completed dailies with minimal errors within the established deadlines. Responds to audit forms/reminder slips within the stated deadline. Proficient with a computer and the required software programs as applicable to the job function. Utilizes leave time in an ethical and cooperative manner. Assumes personal responsibility for his/her own actions. Maintains the highest level of confidentiality, privacy, and security. Upholds and promotes all standards of CARF, HIPAA, Corporate Compliance and SCS Policies and Procedures. Provides consultation and education to fellow staff, businesses, or community agencies in regards to clinical issues. Proactively takes on other duties as assigned. Self Development - Seeks out and performs work tasks which are generally beyond what is required of the job; puts forth effort to increase work related knowledge and/or skills. Interpersonal Attends and actively participates in staff, team, supervision, and professional development meetings as assigned. Consults with manager/supervisor/staff appropriately, cooperatively and actively. Works out conflicts with manager/supervisor/staff in active and positive fashion to promote a healthy working relationship. Treats manager/supervisor/staff/clients with dignity and respect and acts as a mentor to new staff and colleagues.

5 Demonstrates a willingness to back up service areas and address emergent needs such as on-call coverage or critical incident debriefings. Works cooperatively with SCS business and billing staff to assist in client payment and financial operations. Asks for assistance in handling conflicts that become, or threaten to become, unhealthy. Works effectively with other agencies and their personnel; maintains good public relations and develops cooperative working associations. Demonstrates effective written communication skills; clearly conveys ideas and information in an acceptable written format. Demonstrates effective oral communication skills and conveys ideas and information in a manner that is clear and concise.
