This position will provide counseling services including initial assessments, treatment plans, and ongoing psychotherapy for individuals, groups, couples and families. Qualifications: Master s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapist, Clinical Psychology, or related field is required. Wisconsin State Certification/Licensure as an APSW, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW is required. Three years of current professional work experience in behavioral health, social work, or psychology is required. Wisconsin State Certification/Licensure for clinical Substance Abuse Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor license is required. 2 Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians Exempt Position Description A. TITLE OF POSITION: Mental Health Substance Abuse Co-Occurring Therapist B. DEPARTMENT: Gookomis Endaad Residential Treatment Center C. SUPERVISOR S TITLE: Healing & Wellness Campus Administrator D. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide clinical mental health substance abuse services in a culturally congruent fashion for patients at Gookomis Endaad Residential Treatment Center. This position will provide counseling services including initial assessments, treatment plans, and ongoing psychotherapy for individuals, groups, couples and families. The therapist will work with all age groups and with a multitude of different problems ranging from chronically mentally ill to the patient experiencing substance abuse disorders and with patients who have co-occurring disorders. Specific responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following: Clinical Responsibilities: 1) Provide co-occurring mental health/substance abuse intake and screening, treatment planning, intervention, case management and crisis intervention. 2) Intervene in crisis situations, making immediate assessments and referrals in emergency situations. 3) Provide psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment, using strength based approach to resident patients through individual, family, couple, and group therapy. 4) Participate and assist in planning, developing, organizing, facilitating, and providing psychotherapy services/programs in prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare. 5) Diagnose and treat a full spectrum of mental health and substance abuse disorders using an integrated approach to treat patients with co-occurring disorders. General Duties: 6) Provide weekly verbal reports to referral source and bi-weekly written reports on the current progress of patient. 7) Work as a team member with other internal and external providers in an integrated setting by collaborating with other providers and attending weekly staffing. 8) Maintain electronic health records of patients containing pertinent, accurate and current information in compliance with the Privacy Act, HIPAA, and established department rules, regulations and policies. 9) Prepare reports, correspondence, narratives, statistical and other documents as required by program deadlines and funding sources. 10) Ensure integration of Anishinaabeg culture and values throughout therapeutic design and clinical intervention. 11) Other job related duties as assigned.

3 E. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Internal: Daily face to face contact with all resident patients and team members 2. External: Frequent contact with service providers and may represent the patient, family, or community. Must be able to represent Band in a positive fashion. F. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None G. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Healing & Wellness Campus Administrator H. EDUCATION: Master s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapist, Clinical Psychology, or related field is required. Wisconsin State Certification/Licensure as an APSW, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW is required. Wisconsin Certification/Licensure for Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor license is required. Certifications in therapeutic interventions (i.e. sand tray therapy, equine therapy, art therapy, EMDR, DBT, etc.) is highly desired. I. EXPERIENCE: Three years of current professional work experience in behavioral health, social work, or psychology is required. Extensive knowledge and experience of Anishinaabeg communities culture, ceremonial practices, and values is required. J. SKILLS: 1) Ability to manage time effectively, promote positive team culture, and to communicate effectively with team members, patients, and through the writing of reports/notes is required. 2) Ability to demonstrate efficiency with electronic health records, developing treatment plans and notes that satisfy funding requirements and basic computer skills are required. 3) Must be billable and reimbursable for commercial insurances, and medical assistance. 4) Must be able to present complex information in a persuasive or compelling fashion. 5) Must be flexible to meet the needs of the Band, agency, and patients. Decision Making and Problem Solving 1) Must be able to make decisions related to clinical interventions with patients and appropriate course of treatment. 2) Make decisions related to compliance and regulatory bodies. 3) Must make decisions related to crisis response and intervention. 4) Make decisions related to therapeutic design and development of policies and procedures. K. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 1. Work Conditions: Nature of work are such that the incumbent will experience regular periods of high to moderate stress levels. Primary sources of stress deal with patient issues, residential setting, and workload. Work is primarily indoors in a controlled climate area, but may require outside activities. Hours vary and are based off of agency needs; with shifts on holidays, weekends and evenings. Will be on 24/7 on call system covering emergency situations. Local travel is required, limited travel outside the state is required. 2. Exposure to Hazards: Moderate threat to personal danger

4 3. Physical Requirements: Must be able to demonstrate screening and physical examination in the past three (3) months or complete a screening and physical examination within 90 days of employment. L. BEHAVIOR: The vision, goals and objectives of the Lac du Flambeau Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Indians requires the Mental Health Substance Abuse Co-Occurring therapist to perform in both a professional and personable manner. The manner in which the employee relates to fellow employees, customers and visitors is considered parallel in importance to technical knowledge and ability. Respect and consideration given to the dignity of each customer, visitor and fellow employee is a requisite of successful job performance. Any behavior or attitude that will tarnish the name or reputation of the Lac du Flambeau Tribe will not be tolerated and will be subject to disciplinary action. M. OTHER: Must submit to a drug test prior to commencing employment and random testing thereafter. Maintain sobriety throughout employment. Criminal background check required applicable to the job description. Must have a current driver s license, reliable personal transportation, proof of current insurance coverage, and insurability under the Band s Insurance policy. Must be CPR certified or complete necessary training to become certified within 6 months of employment. As an employee of the Tribe, he/she will be subject to the Policies and Procedures of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. N.
