2 From the President Dear Fellow ACA Members, With awareness of the responsibility conferred by your trust, I am honored to hold the Presidential position of the Atlanta Claims Association. It is truly a privilege to represent one of the largest and prestigious organizations within the claims industry. I have accepted this position with much gratitude and with serious intentions. I have two promises to make as your new President. First, I promise to always represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Second, I promise to grow the organization and challenge members to become involved and active in the association. We have recently had a record number of new member applications which is indicative of our new application process on the website. If you have not registered or visited the website recently, please visit www. atlantaclaims.com. While growing up in Alabama, I was fortunate to have strong parental guidance. I have been blessed with strong business mentors that allowed me to gain a better understanding of the claims business. My numerous influences have unquestionably been invaluable to my individual growth. I have been involved in the industry for over 25 years beginning as a multi-line adjuster. Over the years, I have been privileged with the opportunity to hold various leadership and management roles. Thursday, June 5 th, 2014 Papasitos 2788 Windy Hill Rd SE Marietta, GA Reservations Required Limited Seating RSVP Required Online Registration and payment is now available for monthly meetings Contact: Debby Darrell ddarrell@achieveservices.net My first duty as President was to play in the recent golf and tennis tournament. Although my golf team did not win the tournament, we made sure not to embarrass ourselves. Congratulations to the winning golf and tennis teams. Additionally, congratulations to our charity partner the Salvation Army. I have attended this event for a number of years and have watched it continue to grow and improve. This year was no exception. We were lucky to have great weather and an excellent venue. I would like to personally thank all of the golf and tennis committee members and our sponsors. Speaking of our sponsors, they kept us well supplied with food and beverages. They also provided some of the best door prizes you will find at any tournament. Special thanks to Scott Busby. Scott has been the chairperson of the golf and tennis committee for a number of years. His last tournament may have been his best. During our last convention, we had two additional long time committee chairs to retire. Juanita Keltner, Convention Committee, and Doug White, Special Event Committee. I have gotten to know both of these outstanding individuals over the last few years. They have both dedicated countless hours to our association. They will be missed greatly. The 2014 convention was truly a success and I am even more eager about the outcome of the 2015 convention. The new convention committee is already hard at work. There will be an abundance of new and exciting changes that will take place next year. One of the changes will be a change of venue. The location of the convention has not been decided. There will be more information coming soon. Our next scheduled event will be the Meet, Greet and Tweet, with the new board members on June 5th, at Papasitto s in Marietta. I look forward to seeing you! Regards, Kowalski M Brown ACA President Officers President Kowalski Brown First V.P. Linda Mihyar Second V.P. Nick has a Bachelor s Degree in Leadership and is a Certified Professional Coach through the International Coaching Foundation. Nick is a proud new father of four month old Olivia Ferrante and in his spare time he is a motivational speaker to young people regarding the importance of knowing who they are now and what they want to do in future. Milledgeville Outing The Milledgeville outing took place on May 15 and May 16, 2014 at the Fairfield Inn, Milledgeville GA. There was a nice turn out of ACA members, spouses, and friends to enjoy just average weather (it rained 5/15). There was a lot of good food, games, boating, shopping, resting, and much socializing. Kowalski Brown conducted his first ACA Board of Directors meeting on 5/15/14 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, and the meeting was excellent. Thank you to our sponsors who made the event possible, and thanks to all those who contributed and participated. Doug White, Chairman How would you like to adjust this claim? Nick will be speaking with us at the upcoming social regarding the importance of social media in claims handling as well as building a strong network of associates. 3
