2 From the President Dear Fellow ACA Members, November has proved to be one of the most relaxing months of the year! It has been characterized as a time after the crops had been harvested the cold had not yet arrived. November is the time of the year that provides us with a few weeks of rest before the rush of the holiday season, which begins with Thanksgiving. As we enter the month, we look forward to spending time with family friends of course food football! Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks reflect on the many things we are thankful for. In the claims industry specifically, we all should be thankful for the dem for good claims adjusters other insurance professionals. The U.S. Department of Labor states that in 2006, there were 350,000 claims related jobs. That number is expected to grow to 370,000 by the year I am not speaking for the U.S. Department of Labor, however I can tell you what I do know. Qualified claims professionals are in high dem. I do not know of any carrier or TPA in Atlanta, that s not looking for qualified claims professionals. There are many experienced professionals at the executive senior management level, but a shortage of entry-level adjusters who can take their place. The majority of carriers TPA s are reaching out to colleges universities in an effort to train bring on the next wave of claims professionals. Even with these efforts, there is still a shortage of claims professionals. I know in the claims profession, we should all be thankful for a rebounding economy. It s simple; a strong economy has a direct impact on bonds, construction, manufacturing, retail etc. All of these are tied to the growth of our industry. I know we are not totally out of the economic crisis, however all indications suggest we are headed in the right direction. I know in the claims profession, we should all be thankful for the ability to vote. On November 4, we all have the right privilege to vote for the cidate of our choice. In many ways, these cidates effect just about everything we do in the claims industry. The right to vote is something we should never take for granted! It s been often said if you don t vote, don t complain. I hope you did not miss our October luncheon. The attendance was great we had a dynamic speaker. Kudos to Nancy Reynolds, Linda Mihyar others that helped with this event! Our next scheduled function is the Ethic seminar on November 6, at Villa Christina. This is a special event.
