Now that is where you want to concentrate your advertising dollars. Geographic Areas Covered Nearly 97 percent of our readers are in the United States. The remainder are located in Canada, Mexico, and throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and North and South America. Specifications Printing Method: Sheet-fed offset Binding Method: Saddle-stitched Color: CMYK (4-color process) Trim Size: 8.5" wide x 11" high Live Area for art and text: 8" wide x 10.5" high Bleeds: Please prepare artwork with an additional non-printing.125" bleed on all sides in native layout files like Adobe InDesign, as well as in Photoshop and PDF files. Electronic Files: We prefer high-resolution PDF files (Press Optimized with all fonts embedded in zero subsets) to be sent to us as final artwork for the ad. We accept ads on CD (CDs will not be returned unless requested in writing). Depending on file size, ads may also be e-mailed to us. We also accept Adobe InDesign layout files. When sending layout files, please include fonts, graphics and a hard copy of the ad in color. A PDF file may be sent along with the components. Artwork must be 300 dpi or higher for images at 100% size. Pantone colors will incur additonal charges. The other 14 percent include government officials and industry suppliers. Special Rates Four-color: $300 (Same size color proof required.) Preferred Positions Inside Front and Back Cover: 25 percent over space charge. Inside Back Cover: 15 percent over space charge. Preferred position advertisements must be four-color. Covers are non-cancelable contracts. In the event that a cover position becomes available, preference for the space will be given first to other advertisers contracted for covers, then to advertisers holding other paid preferred positions. It is sent with the association s division newsletters Taxicab, Limousine, and Paratransit. Dispatch offers the opportunity to place classified ads, either at a prepaid discounted price when all issues in a calendar year are contracted for in advance, or at $375 per insertion for a 2" x 3" classified ad or $200 an insertion for a 2" x 1" classified ad. Larger classified ads may contain photos; smaller ads typically contain about 30 words. Nonmembers must prepay their ads in Dispatch. Mailing Labels TLPA s mailing list is available for rental at the cost of $125 per 1,000 names. There are over 5,000 transportation companies on the mailing list, so a full list costs approximately $625. Associate Members receive a 15 percent discount off the cost of mailing labels if payment is received within 30 days of the invoice date; nonmembers must T he 6th largest Annual Convention & Trade Show brought together over 875 people worldwide for the 92nd Annual Convention & Trade Show that took place at the new JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, CA from October 27 31, 2010. With a participant rating of the overall conventionn being 40.7% Excellent and 59.3% Good the 92nd Annual Covention & Trade Show was truly a superior industry event. The convention participants, which included industry leaders and experts, as well as local, national and global operators, vendors, spouses and friends of TLPA, met for three days of quality programming and networking. Current and emerging issues were discussed in depth allowing for the development of new initiatives and the advancement of current plans. Educational programs were delivered through 18 Concurrent Roundtables (rated 29.2% Excellent and 68.8% Good ), 15 Concurrent Breakout Sessions (rated 35.4% Excellent and 64.6% Good ), and 3 General Sessions (rated 35.1% Excellent and 64.9% Good ). The Trade Show with its 11 vehicle exhibit spaces and 89 booth display spaces, including 20 new exhibitors, showcased 81 vendors in all. Vendors represented categories such as dispatch systems, GPS, MDT, radios, Dispatch Fabulous TLPA Convention Held in Los Angeles TLPA Members enter the Exhibit Hall in the JW Marriott at LA LIVE. 2010 Wim Faber payment systems, software, advertising, fuel programs, insurance, reservation networks, brokers, financing, vehicles, loss prevention, meters, rooflights, etc. This year s trade show introduced new products, services, technologies and innovations to those in attendance, providing an array of options for TLPA member companies to improve their operations, efficiency, cost savings and run more successfully. The Trade Show received an operator rating of 49.1% Excellent and 50.9% Good. Also the Annual Convention offered a number of unique and exciting networking opportunities. Beginning with the Annual TLPF/ Gateway Insurance Golf Tournament which included a Putting Contest and Reception to the TLPF Women s Spa Program, then Pre-Opening Night Cocktail Reception which took place at The Standard Hotel Rooftop and Bar, a Host Operator Tour of L.A. Yellow Cab Co-Op, a daily Shopping Shuttle (Thursday and Friday), the Grand Opening Cocktail Reception of the Convention and Exhibit Hall, the Women In Transportation Dinner with guest speaker Rita Robinson, General Manager of the L.A. DOT, a Member Appreciation Cocktail reception, and finally to close this record making convention the Silent Auction benefiting the TLPA Action Fund and Banquet Dinner with special entertainment by Mathemagician, Dr. Arthur Benjamin (son-in-law of Past President Dizengoff) and finally The Surf City All-Stars Band the best surfin beach party band around. Of the convention s memorable moments one of the most noteworthy was the year-end State of the Industry address by Victor Dizengoff. Excerpts from the speech follow: During the year, I have done sig nificant travelling on behalf of the TLPA, A bimonthly business report provided exclusively for the members of TLPA across the country and around the world, to address legislators, regulators and industry organizations. I have made a number of trips to Washington D.C., to be on Capitol Hill and Al and Ken threw in a fundraiser in D.C. for senator Vitter for good measure. I went to Washington to convey to our elected officials how important it is for them to consider the needs of our industry when considering legislation that could possibly help us, or put us out of business, such as the anti-texting legislation, cap & trade energy taxes, the ride act, the new freedom program, as well as others. With fewer vendors than the Annual Convention & Trade Show, the Spring Conference provides a good opportunity to interact with prospective and current customers in a smaller, more relaxed setting. The 2016 Spring Conference & Expo will be held April 21 24, 2016, in New York, NY. Held each fall, TLPA s Annual Con vention & Trade Show features over 100 exhibit and vehicle spaces in a larger Exhibit Hall. The trade show will be held November 1 4, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ. Transportation Leader Magazine Advertising Contract Regulations For 2016 1. This contract authorizes the publisher of Transportation Leader magazine and/or the TLPA Membership Directory to insert advertising in specified issue(s) at established rates with the following terms and conditions being agreed upon. 2. No conditions, printed or otherwise, appearing on the space order, billing, or copy instructions that conflict with the publisher s stated policies will be binding on the publisher. 3. A contract year is a calendar year. If more or fewer insertions are used than are specified in the order, charges will be adjusted in accordance with established rates. Advertisers that cancel insertions that have been contracted for are subject to forfeiting preferred positions in Transportation Leader and the TLPA Membership Directory. 4. The advertiser agrees to remit payment upon proof of publication, with the publisher reserving the right to hold the advertiser and/or the agency jointly and severally liable for such moneys as are due and payable to the publisher. 5. The publisher must receive cancellations in writing no less than 45 days in advance of the first day of the month of publication. Cancellations are not possible after that time. Covers are noncancelable contracts. 6. When a change of copy and/or artwork, covered by an uncancelled insertion order, is not received by the closing date, the advertiser s most recent ad in Transportation Leader will be repeated. 7. The publisher s liability for any error will not exceed the publisher s charge for the advertisement in question. The publisher assumes no liability if for any reason it becomes necessary to omit an advertisement. The publisher is not liable for delays in delivery and/or nondelivery in the event of any condition beyond the control of the publisher affecting production or delivery in any manner. The advertisers index is prepared under the policies of the publisher as an extra service to the advertiser. Therefore, the publisher does not assume liability for errors notwithstanding normal precautions. 8. The advertiser agrees to pay all expenses for additional ad preparation, such as typesetting, revisions, repairing, etc. The minimum charge for such service is $50. 9. Transportation Leader and/or the TLPA Membership Directory allows a 15 percent commission on gross rates to accredited advertising agencies or TLPA Associate Members that are current and paid-in-full at invoice date. Net due in 30 days of the invoice date, or the advertiser/agency forfeits the commission. If an advertiser s invoices for previous advertisements in Transportation Leader have not been paid in full, the ad may not run in subsequent issues. 10. Preferred positions requested by the advertiser, such as center spread, opposite contents page, etc., will carry a surcharge as listed under Fees on the advertising contract, and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of color signatures, preferred positions cannot be guaranteed to black & white advertisements, although the editor will make every attempt to grant those requests if possible. Requested positions are not guaranteed unless stated as a paid preferred position. 11. All advertising is subject to the publisher s approval, with the publisher having the right to reject any advertising not in keeping with the publication s standards. Advertisers and advertising agencies assume liability for the contents of all advertisements printed, and assume full liability for any and all claims arising therefrom made against the publisher. 12. Advertisements in Transportation Leader and/or the TLPA Membership Directory may not contain any reference to the current TLPA president or his/her company or companies. This includes photos, testimonials, and references to use or support of the advertiser s product(s) by the president or his/her company/companies. 13. A credit card payment guarantee is required to place advertising in Transportation Leader and/or the TLPA Membership Directory. Unless you specifically request to pay by credit card, you will be invoiced for your advertisement.
