An Invitation to Apply: Director of Online Education THE SEARCH The Department of Nursing within the Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS) invites applications and nominations for a full-time tenure line or non-tenure line position as the Director of Online Education. The Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Nursing and oversees all operational aspects pertaining to the online learning modality. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Director of Online Education manages the complex set of operational relationships and academic structures required for the School to effectively and efficiently assist the specialty program directors to move the graduate online education student population from recruitment through graduation. This position reports directly to the department chair, and in conjunction with nursing program directors will serve as the liaison between administration and the online vendor, and will be a key member of the Department of Nursing leadership. The Director of Online Education is responsible for the core courses. Along with the graduate specialty program directors, the director of online education ensures that the online education learning environment, core course teaching performance, and core course delivery provide a high quality equivalent learning experience for online education students, consistent with the traditional, on-campus programs. This is a high profile position that requires strong leadership and management skill. QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications for the Director position include: Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, required. Minimum of 5 years experience in nursing education, at least part of that in online education, required. - 1-
Minimum of 2 years successful administrative experience as a program director or other administrative role, required. Record of scholarly work in areas of nursing practice, education and/or research, required. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse, required. On campus position- local residency, preferred. Nursing Accreditation Nursing programs within the NHS are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The original maximum accreditation was conferred in 2003 and a full 10-year reaccreditation was awarded in 2013. The Nurse-Midwifery/Women s Health Nurse Practitioner program holds accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), from which reaccreditation was conferred in 2012; the next ACME review will be in 2022. The Nurse Anesthesia Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs held its reaccreditation site visit in October, 2013; notification expected in spring 2014. Nursing Faculty Profile In Fall 2013 there were 54 full-time faculty members and 156 adjunct/part-time faculty members in the Department of Nursing. Nursing Student Profile In Fall 2013 enrollment in the Department of Nursing comprised 358 pre-licensure students, of whom 234 were in the traditional 4-year BSN track and 124 in the seconddegree BSN track. The graduate nursing student body comprises 977 students, of whom 251 are full-time and 726 are part-time.
