McWhorter School of Pharmacy has been preparing outstanding pharmacists in a nurturing, Christian environment for more than 85 years. We combine scholarship, practice, faith and service to produce exceptional pharmacists who pass major licensure exams on their first try at rates exceeding national averages. 8 School of Health Professions Samford s School of Health Professions is made up of four departments: communication sciences and disorders, kinesiology, physical therapy and respiratory care. To meet the growing demand for highly skilled, compassionate health care providers, we are adding a number of new degree options, both undergraduate and graduate. When educating skilled caregivers, there is no substitute for hands-on experience. We give students the opportunity to learn by doing in every program within the School of Health Professions. However, Samford University can provide no assurance that accreditation will be granted by the CoARC. **Graduation from an athletic training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 6836 Austin Center Blvd. Suite 250, Austin, TX 78731; phone; ; is necessary for eligibility to sit for the Board of Certification Examination (BOC), which is required to be licensed in all states. Samford University is seeking accreditation of a new master of athletic training program from the CAATE. The program will submit an Application for Accreditation including a Self-Study and on-site visit. Submission of this document and completing the site visit does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation. Students who graduate prior to the program s achievement of accreditation will not be eligible to sit for the BOC examination. ***The master s program in speech language pathology at Samford University is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech- Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. This is a pre-accreditation status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of five years. 10 School of Public Health In the School of Public Health, we focus on issues that affect the health of entire populations. If you find your calling here, you ll work to address some of the most difficult challenges to human health, from access to health care to violence and the return of infectious diseases. Today, the School of Public Health includes five departments: healthcare administration, health informatics and information management, nutrition and dietetics, public health and social work. The problems that affect health and well-being are complex in nature, and their resolution requires professionals to collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner. Consequently, School of Public Health students in every degree program work in collaboration with students in other departments and even other schools, learning to address the increasingly complex needs of the individuals and communities they serve. Our greatest strength is our exceptional faculty and staff. Admission into the College of Health Sciences varies from school to school and from undergraduate to graduate programs. Regardless of the program in which you are interested, we want to make the admission process as easy as possible. UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE ADMISSION For all undergraduate programs, you must apply first to Samford University through the Office of Admission. To enter Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing, you must also apply for admission directly to the nursing school once you ve been admitted to Samford. Athletic Training also requires a second admission process beyond admission to Samford. For admission to any of our graduate programs, apply directly to the individual school. Admission requirements vary by program, but you can learn more about the specific requirements by speaking with the appropriate contact person in each program or by visiting the school websites.
