Since then cmpanies started adpting SQL Server 2014, NAV 2013 and NAV2015, and that meant changes and imprvements were needed t the Perfrm-Tls prduct prtfli. We have had many archiving prjects with extra requirements, such as 4-4-5 calendars, r prjects where massive Item Ledger Entry table existed and culd nt be by any means archived and cmpressed within a reasnable dwntime windw. SQL Perfrm Tls 5.10 Release Nte Archive-Tls versin 5.10 We have had many successful implementatins f Archive-Tls ut in the market. With this release we have made many imprvements and intrduced new functinality. The main "themes" fr this release were supprt fr custm calendars, NAV2013 and abve supprt, and easier deplyment. New functinality verview Full supprt f "Accunting Perid" and "Accunting Perid GB" calendars. This means cmpanies running 4-4-5 fr example can nw cmpress and archive accrding t thse dates. Archive-Tls can nw wrk n NAV 2013 and abve databases cnverted t nvarchar clumns. Archive-Tls have nw Get Data Jb cllecting the setup tables, registers and Jbs' setup. All Archive-Tls granules allw nw t run sme Perfrm-Tls functinality. There is therefre n lnger a need t have a separate license fr Perfrm-Tls when running Archive-Tls. Of curse if custmers have a valid Perfrm-Tls license there is n prblem at all. Archive-Tls wuld nt wrk n tables where a clumn exists f type uniqueidentifier. Lck timeut perid changed in all Archive-Tls functins frm 1 secnd t 60 secnds. Archive-Tls templates fr tables 21 and 25 have been updated t handle (mve) dimensins t the archive database. Archive-Tls pt_sqlname functin is made a simpler cde. The pt_sqlname2 functin is nw bslete. pt_cmpress1table and pt_cmpress2tables culd misbehave when @startdate did nt match the crrespnding calendar start date (fr example when running 4-4-5). Nw there is a check that makes sure this is n lnger the case. Nte als that pt_archive1table and pt_archive2tables nw check if the @startdate matches any f the pssible perid starts, using functins pt_year_start, pt_quarter_start, pt_mnth_start and pt_week_start. Additinally a new parameter @maxdp was added t cntrl the Maximum Degree f Parallelism (MDOP) t be used when rebuilding indexes. This can be nw used t cntrl MDOP during the maintenance prcess withut a need t change the glbal MDOP setting f the SQL Server. On databases with large number f cmpanies it wuld take a lng time t generate the mappings between Perfrm-Tls and the NAV database, and run (preparatin phase) f the rebuild indexes functins. This has nw been addressed. When blcks are caused by cde in "freign" databases the tls nw shw the crrect bject name The pt_tracklgsize has the fllwing changes: The individual lg file sizes utilizatin is nw calculated by analyzing the number f used VLFs in the lg file. Therefre if yu have say 16 VLFs in a lg file f 8GB size, the utilizatin will be rising step by step - frm 500MB t 1GB, 1.5GB, 2GB, etc up t 8GB ttal used. The pt_tracklgsize nw has a summary TOTAL lg size The summary TOTAL lg file size utilizatin will be calculated frm the percentage used reprted by SQL Server, therefre linear kind f behaviur, cmpared t values rising step by step. The lg utilizatin alert will be made based n TOTAL lg utilizatin, rather than alert n individual lg files. That means that if yu have multiple lgs, the ttal size will be calculated and nly raise alerts n cnditin when a percentage f the ttal lg size is belw the threshld. There is a new table pt_alertlgsize in which we nw setup alert n lg size utilizatin, defaults t 20% free threshld. New functin pt_jbname (@prgram_name) can be used t fr example shw what Jb Name is executed in the prgram_name clumn in sysprcesses table. Functins pt_blcks, pt_kill, pt_tracksessins, pt_wh are nw using the new pt_jbname functin shwing the Jb Name in a readable frmat rather than the default SQL Server hex number. Tls simplificatin pt_trackblcks2 and pt_tracklcks2 were remved and the functinality f pt_trackblcks and pt_tracklcks is nw the same as the remved functins (string the cmmands f the sessins in questin). Nte that pt_getblcks2 and pt_getlcks2 still exist, in case smebdy needs t inspect the data in the pt_blckhistry2 and pt_lckhistry2 tables. pt_querystats2 was remved and the functinality f pt_querystats is nw the same as the remved functin pt_querystats2. www.sqlperfrm.cm Page 4 f 6
SQL Perfrm Tls 5.10 Release Nte pt_indexanalysis2, pt_siftanalysis2 and pt_tableanalysis2 became bslete, users shuld use pt_indexanalysis, pt_siftanalysis and pt_tableanalysis nly. pt_reindex2 was remved and a new parameter was added (@nline) t enable nline rebuild indexes (rather than using pt_reindex2). pt_wh nw shws a sessin that was killed (in the [status] clumn) immediately after killing the sessin happened. On systems where smebdy "played" with [cnvertidentifiers] and [invalididentifierchars] clumns in [db].[$nd$dbprperty] table the mapping between Perfrm-Tls and SQL Server culd g wrng. pt_sqlsetup nw shws HADR enabled (SQL2012 and abve), BPE enabled (SQL 2014), and it uses a better mechanism t detect LPIM n SQL Server 2008 and abve (versus reading errrlg n SQL2005) Perfrm-Maintenance jbs are nw clearing the lg flder f files that are lder than 30 days Perfrm-Maintenance jbs' steps are nw shwing the steps where there is cmmented ut cde with step name that starts with "--", fr example "----Terminate users" instead f "Terminate users" The GetData jb nw includes pt_getwaitstats and pt_getwaitstatssum Fixes fr issues, stability imprvements SQLShield 7.0.6.0 Part f this release is als releasing the latest available versin f the encryptin tl. SQL Perfrm Tls 5.10 Release Nte SQL Perfrm Release Strategy We are aiming t release a new versin f the tls n a yearly basis. This will be driven either by new features, r new prduct releases f SQL Server r Dynamics NAV fr example. After each release (RTM = Release t Manufacturing), we will be releasing Cumulative Update (CU) releases. This will be either immediately after sme significant changes have been made, r after the number f individual small fixes makes the CU release justifiable.
