Local Staff Local staff will be expected to attend everyday of their assigned program week(s), from 8:00am to 6:00pm each day. Each program week will begin on Sunday, and end on the following Saturday. The list of program weeks is provided in the following table. Responsibilities Local staff will be expected to serve in one of three supporting roles: logistics staff, safety staff, or media staff. All local staff will aid the operations of the camp, by providing logistical support to Diplomacy Fellows and Directors. Applicants can indicate which position they are most suited for in the online application. Most camps will require at least one of each staff. Larger programs may even require several of each position. The following responsibilities will fall to each position: Logistics Staff: A logistics staff member will be responsible for providing support to ensure successful operation of each program. The logistics staff are essential to each program because they provide additional organizational capacity for program staff. Diplomacy Fellows will often be preoccupied with handling individual student issues, and they will be dependent on a logistics staff member to be accountable for the rest of their students. Specific tasks of a logistics staff member may include: Overseeing students when moving to and from classes; Escorting students to and from lunch; Overseeing registration and check in for programs; Supervising and engaging students outside of class time; Managing equipment and supplies, and creation and printing of a variety of materials (resolutions, placards, position papers, lesson handouts, etc.) Safety Staff: A safety staff member will ensure the safety of the students, and respond if students need minor aid. Safety staff will be responsible for managing situations in which students need professional or emergency medical attention by swiftly escalating these situations to Program Directors. Safety staff will also work as logistics staff where needed. Media Staff: A media staff member will be responsible for documenting their assigned program week. Media staff will take photos, record videos, and promote the camps through social media. Media staff will also be required to complete a project to show at the end of each program, reflecting on the events through the week (e.g. video montage).
Qualifications Minimum Background Currently attending or graduated from a university. Minimum age of applicants is 18 years old. Citizens or residents of the United States or Canada are preferred; applicants must not require sponsorship for a visa to visit the United States during the fellowship term. MUN Experience Participation in a university level MUN organization, such as a conference or travel team. Experience chairing committees as a university student and expertise in North American procedure is a plus. Experience with teaching MUN to high school or middle school students is a plus. Past experience as a participant in the North American high school circuit, particularly for a travel team, is a plus. Position specific Experience Logistics Staff Previous experience in running camps or programs as a counselor or mentor is a plus. Previous experience in organizing an MUN conference is a plus. Specifically, experience in logistics, operations, or conference services for an MUN conference is a. Safety Staff First aid training, and/or another relevant safety certification is required. Previous experience in running camps or programs as a counselor or mentor is a plus, especially if in a safety capacity. Media Staff Access to a high definition camera, for both photo and video is required. Experience in photo and video editing software is a plus.
