To learn more, visit: executiveeducation.ca THE OPPORTUNITY DIRECTOR, EXECUTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAMS Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Director is a member of the senior leadership team and has a staff complement of three. Currently this Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Public Sector Programs including setting direction for the program and building a growing business. The Director and the entire team at Executive Education, contribute to promoting awareness of the organization and the Alberta School of Business by participating in appropriate events and activities in the community. A significant area of responsibility will be to build and maintain relationships across the public sector (nationally, provincially and within the municipal sector). Stakeholder relationships and outreach will be a key driving factor in the development of new business and ultimately growing the portfolio. 2
3 Key Roles & Responsibilities Responsible for the design, delivery and leadership of Executive Education programs which meet the needs of clients and individuals. Lead and manage a combination of Open Enrollment Programs and Customized Programs in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Growing revenue for Executive Education through the growth in existing client relationships and launch of new open enrolment and custom programs. Work collaboratively within Executive Education, the Alberta School of Business, and beyond, to ensure research, ideas and insights are cultivated and shared through Executive Education programs. Business planning, budgeting and forecasting. Leadership and management of advisors/administrators who manage program logistics. Client and Partner Relationship Management. Proposal writing. Research and analysis of industry trends. Recruitment, development and retention of outstanding instructors and faculty from universities, industry and government across North America. Chair advisory committees relating to potential or existing programs. THE PERSON Required Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a graduate degree in a related field. combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Equivalent The incumbent will have a demonstrated track record of success in a previous leadership position(s) and a solid foundation of experience in the area of adult learning. Demonstrated experience and understanding of various organizational types and sectors will provide significant value in leading this program for Executive Education. Business development experience will be considered a strong asset. The candidate will have proven project management skills, be able to meet tight deadlines, and communicate across all levels of an organization. They have an outgoing, enthusiastic and engaging nature and are able to build rapport and trust easily with internal and external stakeholders. In addition they handle ambiguity with ease, demonstrate strong initiative and resourcefulness in solving complex problems. 3

Unites people through listening to and synthesizing ideas and helping them reach the best decisions. Demonstrates commitment to collegial decision-making processes. Team Player/Teamwork Demonstrated success leading a high performance team, talks openly with others, establishes expectations, holds self and others accountable, supports group decisions, shares credit, builds enthusiasm for goals, and resolves conflict appropriately. Interpersonal Skills Able to effectively build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally to the organization. Has a positive outlook and a sense of humour. Is diplomatic and emotionally mature; possesses well-developed negotiation skills - able to resolve conflict and facilitate negotiations with tact and diplomacy. Communication An open, honest and straightforward style with all audiences; demonstrates candor and respect to all and is prepared to delegate responsibility and accountability. Has solid written and verbal communication skills, is able to respond to proposals and develop reports with ease. Is comfortable making presentations to large and small groups and can read each individual audience well. Business Planning Provides leadership in planning initiatives and ensures accountability for achievement of results throughout the Professional Development Programs. Is able to maintain focus on the strategic direction and long term vision while balancing the need to address the immediate and emerging needs. A Professional Acts as an integral part of a leadership team and displays a "first amongst equals" style with high ethical standards and an honest, open-minded and consistent approach to working with all stakeholders (internal and external). Ability to Impact and Influence Ability to bring diverse groups of people together to support an idea, agenda or direction. Has strong in-depth knowledge of Executive Education instruction, programs and/or adult learning theories, building credibility quickly, and building strong relationships with appropriate stakeholders. 4
