CHARITY JUSTICE PRACTICE THE PRINCIPLES OF OUR ORDER NEWS OF THE LODGE ISSUE 1 APRIL 2018 VOLUME LXV A FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION CELEBRATING 65 YEARS OF ELKDOM Exalted Ruler s Message Let s start this year by giving our outgoing team a BIG Hooray for working so hard! Congratulations PER Mike, and all of your team, for your successes. for the Sports Dinner and the St. Patrick s Day Parties in March. The Mega 50/50 will be a great help to the Special Children s Committee. Also I cannot forget the great food our Chef Cathy, and all the kitchen volunteers that provides us at all of these events too! As we move forward, and continue to grow as a group, I want to take this opportunity to also thank all of YOU for being involved in the way that makes sense to each and every one of you. We are each a bigger part of the whole. Our motto this year Members Make Change is to remind me, and all of you, that the Lodge belongs to all of us. We choose those we trust, to keep our beloved Lodge safe, and sound. We support our events to keep us thriving and allow us to continue the important charitable work we do for our community. It is also with the love of my family, their involvement in Elkdom and support that helps me get through each day. Please take note of the changes made with regards to our Officers, Trustees, Lodge and Statutory Committee Chairs contacts and even our Editor. I am very excited to have so many new members taking on roles right away. Please join me in welcoming everyone. Rene Nadeau, thank you for the years you have dedicated to ET. I know it was like pulling teeth to get the articles, but you have kept all of us well informed. Jenel Marino, we look forward to seeing what you can do! You do such a fantastic job in EVERYTHING you do! You are so creative that we can t wait to see what you will do next! Thank you to the House for such a wonderful evening There are lots of events coming up that you can support by offering your time to volunteer, coming as a participant or just buying a ticket and giving it to someone else to come! The annual Lodge gift Auction is on April 6th! Look for the Bocce Ball League for Special Children that the Special Children s Committee and the Bocce Ball League are working on together. April 7th the Veteran s Committee is hosting a free AAA Safety Driving Class which could end up saving you money on your auto insurance! April 20th is the International Wine & Cheese tasting event to support our Veteran s Committee. I would like to continue our newest tradition of naming a Lodge Member as the Elk of the Month. Just starting her 2nd year, this Member has kept to her reason for becoming involved with the Elks, meeting people and giving back. Her uncle was an ER in a lodge in another state, and this was her inspiration. She has jumped in whenever and wherever needed. She has supported anyone that needed support, especially Bingo and Veterans. She has donated many things to us that have been used in the Secretary s office, as 50/50 gifts, as well as for the upcoming Gift Auction. Thank you Deborah Cornell for being a Member that makes change! MEMBERS MAKE CHANGE
