WFT Server Mode Infrastructure Network Setup Overview This section will describe how to set up a WFT Server Mode/Infrastructure network on an Apple ios device such as an ipad or iphone. WFT Server Mode allows you to wirelessly control your camera through a standard web browser. The browser also provides Live View functionality and the ability to wirelessly transfer images from the camera to a remote computer. This setup requires a wireless network router to serve as the access point. It assumes that your router has been set up for DHCP with WEP security enabled. You will therefore need the 10 digit WEP key or other password to connect to the router. ios Device Setup 1 From the Home Screen, select the Settings icon. 2 Select WiFi. 3Select the network ID that is being distributed by your router. A lock icon indicates that the network is secured and will require some form of login for access. 2
WFT Setup 4Turn on the camera with the WFT unit attached. (The WFT requires its own battery.) Press the MENU button on the camera, then Navigate to the Tool menu that lists WFT settings. Select [WFT settings]. 5Under WFT Settings, select [Connection wizard]. 6Under Select communication method, select [WFTserver], then select [OK]. 7Under LAN type, select [Wireless]. then select [OK]. 3
8Under Wireless LAN setup method, select [Connect with wizard], then select [OK]. 9Under Select wireless network, select the wireless network ID that is being distributed by your router. This must be the same one you selected in Step 3. Select [OK]. 10Under Key format, select one of the two options. The option you choose must match the maximum number of digits available or necessary for your router s wireless network login ID (WEP key). Select [OK]. 11Under Enter 8-63 ASCII characters, enter the wireless login ID/WEP key you need to access the wireless network. Press the Menu button on the camera to select [OK]. 4
12It may take a few seconds for the WFT to connect to wireless network. When it does, you will see this screen. Select [Auto setting], then select [OK]. 13Under Select set number, assign a number from 1-5 so your settings can be saved and retrieved for future use. Select [OK]. 14Return to the first Tool menu. Select [WFT Settings]. 15Under WFT settings, select [Set up]. 5
16Under Set up, select [Confirm settings]. 17Under Confirm settings, scroll to settings screen 2 on the camera. You must enter the exact IP address set you see on your camera into your web browser to access WFT Server. The screen at right is only an example. Enter IP address here for reference. 192. 168. 1. 18Return to the Tool menu. Select [WFT Settings]. 19Under WFT Settings, select [Set up]. 6
20Under Set up, select [WFT server settings]. 21Under WFT server settings, select [WFT account]. 22Select a WFT account to which you wish to assign a Login name and Password. In this example we have selected [User 1]. 23Under WFT account, enter the Login name and Password of your choice. All entries are case-sensitive, so write down exactly what you entered. This is the login name and password you will use to log in to the WFT network in Step 25 below. 7
24You are now set up for a WFT infrastructure wireless network. To log in, open your web browser, enter the IP address you saw in Step 17, then tap the return key on the touch keyboard. The IP address must begin with http://. 25Enter the Login name and Password you assigned in Step 23, then tap the [Log in] button on the screen. 26You will see a WFT Server home screen similar to the one at right. Click any one of the three buttons to begin. 8
How to Disonnect When you have finished using Server mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] How to Reconnect To reconnect: 1. Change the WFT setting from [Disconnect] to [WFTserver]. 2. Turn on the WFT. When the LED turns green repeat Steps 14-17. 3. Enter the IP address from Step 17 into your ios device s web browser. 9
WFT Server Mode Apple ios Ad Hoc Network Setup Overview This guide describes how to set up a WFT Server Mode/Ad Hoc network on an Apple ios device such as an ipad or iphone. An ad hoc network creates a two-way link between the WFT and your ios device. Server Mode allows you to wirelessly control your camera through a standard web browser. It also provides Live View functionality and the ability to wirelessly transfer images from the camera to a Initial WFT Setup remote computer. Although his setup allows you to assign a network login name and password it is otherwise unsecured. Before making any changes, please take note of your original settings so that you can restore them later if you wish. Our illustrations will show ipad screens for size and clarity, however all ios screens are similar. 1Turn on the camera with the WFT unit attached. (The WFT requires its own battery.) Press the MENU button on the camera, then Navigate to the Tool menu that lists WFT settings. Select [WFT settings]. 2Under WFT settings, select [Connection wizard]. 3Under Select communication method, select [WFTserver], then select [OK]. 10
4Under LAN type, select [Wireless], then select [OK]. 5Under Wireless LAN setup method, select [Connect with wizard], then select [OK]. 6Under Select wireless network, select [Enter connection], then select [OK]. 7Under Connection Method, select [Ad hoc 11g], then select [OK]. 11
8Under SSID, assign a name to the ad hoc network. This name will appear on your ios device s list of available wireless networks. The name you see here is only an example. Press the MENU button on the camera to select [OK]. 9Under Channel setting, select [Auto Setting], then select [OK]. 10Under Encryption settings, select [None]. The camera will display a Busy... screen. You may now move on to ios Device Setup. ios Device Setup 11 From the Home Screen, select the Settings icon. 12
12Select WiFi. 13Select the ad hoc network name you assigned in Step 8. 14Click the blue arrow to the right of the ad hoc network name. 15Under IP Address, change the tab to Static, then enter the IP address and subnet mask numbers exactly as shown. Return to your camera to complete the setup. 13
Final WFT Setup 16Under Network, select [Manual setting], then select [OK]. 17Under IP address setting, select [Manual setting], then select [OK]. 18Under IP address, enter an IP address for the WFT unit. If you used 192.168.1.101 for the ios device, then the last number of the sequence can be any number from 1-255 other than 101. Select [OK]. Enter IP address here for reference. 192. 168. 1. 19Under Gateway, leave the menu set to [Disable]. Select [OK]. 14
20Assign a Set number so your settings can be saved and retrieved for future use. You can use any number from 1-5. Select [OK]. 21Return to the first Tool menu. Select [WFT Settings]. 22Under WFT settings, select [Set up]. 23Under Set up, select [WFT server settings]. 15
25Under WFT server settings, select [WFT account]. 26Under WFT account, select a user setting you wish to define. In this example we have selected [User 1]. 27Under the next WFT account screen, enter the Login name and Password of your choice. Entries are case-sensitive, so write down exactly what you entered. This will be the login name and password you must enter in Step 29 below. Login name Password 28You are now set up for a WFT ad hoc wireless network. To log in, open your web browser, enter the IP address you created in Step 18, then tap the return key on the touch keyboard. The IP address must begin with http://. 16
29Enter the Login name and Password you assigned in Step 27, then tap the Log in button on the screen. 30You will see a WFT Server home screen similar to the one at right. Click any one of the three buttons to begin. How to Disconnect When you have finished using Server mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] To reconnect your ios device to the Internet, restore your previous settings. How to Reconnect To reconnect: 1. Change the WFT setting from [Disconnect] to [WFTserver]. 2. Select the WFT network you previously setup on your ios device. 3.
