Legislatin 1.1 The Equality Act 2010 ("the Act") prvides a mdern, single legal framewrk with three brad duties: Eliminate discriminatin; Advance equality f pprtunity; and Fster gd relatins. 1.2 The Academy fully understands the principle f the Act and the wrk needed t ensure that thse with prtected characteristics are nt discriminated against and are given equality f pprtunity. A prtected characteristic under the act cvers the grups listed belw: Age; Disability; Race, clur, natinality, ethnic r natinal rigin; Sex (including transgender); Gender reassignment; Maternity and pregnancy; Religin and belief; Sexual rientatin; and Marriage and civil partnership (fr emplyees). 1.3 In rder t meet ur general duties, listed abve, the law requires us t d sme specific duties t demnstrate hw we meet the general duties. These are t: Publish equality infrmatin t demnstrate cmpliance with the general duty acrss its functins - We will nt publish any infrmatin that can specifically identify any child. Prepare and publish equality bjectives - t d this we will cllect data related t the prtected characteristics abve and analyse this data t determine ur

This will include the fllwing functins: Admissins; Attendance; Attainment; Exclusins; and Prejudice related incidents. 1.4 Our bjectives will detail hw we will ensure equality is applied t the services listed abve hwever; where we find evidence that ther functins have a significant impact n any particular grup we will include wrk in this area. We als welcme ur duty under the Educatin and Inspectins Act 2006 t prmte cmmunity chesin (see Cmmunity Chesin Plicy). We recgnise that these duties reflect internatinal human rights standards as expressed in the UN Cnventin n the Rights f the Child, the UN Cnventin n the Rights f Peple with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act 1998. 2. Addressing Prejudice Related Incidents 4.1 The Academy is ppsed t all frms f prejudice and we recgnise that children and yung peple wh experience any frm f prejudice related discriminatin may fair less well in the educatin system. We prvide bth ur pupils and staff with an awareness f the impact f prejudice in rder t prevent any incidents. and reprt them t the Lcal Authrity using their guidance material. The Lcal Authrity may prvide sme supprt. 5. Objectives 5.1 In achieving cmpliancy with the Act, bjectives are set annually. Detailed belw are the Academy s current set f verriding bjectives.
