Dr. Sonya Christian Dr. Sonya Christian is currently the President of Bakersfield College, http://www.bakersfieldcollege.edu/president/. Prior to that Sonya was the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Lane Community College in Oregon. She started her community college career as a math faculty before serving in administrative roles. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kerala in India and Masters and Doctorate from USC and UCLA respectively.

Dr. Carmen Cortez Dominguez Carmen Cortez Dominguez (Standard II and III) has almost 30 years experience as an educator. She has taught every level of education from preschool to graduate level. She received her doctorate from the Peabody Institute, Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Dominguez has extensive experience in participatory governance and instructional program development. She has over a decade of experience in academic senate and faculty leadership. She has served as a self-study chair, principal author for ACCJC progress reports, and chair and principal author of Standard IV for Saddleback College. Dr. Dominguez is currently the dean of fine and performing arts at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California where she administrates, manages and oversees the academic areas of Art, Dance, Graphic & Multimedia Design, Media Entertainment Arts, Music, Photography and Theatre.

Dr. Steven Kinsella Dr. Steven Kinsella has been the Superintendent/ President of Gavilan Joint Community College District since January 2003. Steve joined the Los Angeles Community College District in 1991 and moved north for his first Chief Business Officer assignment at Gavilan College, followed by the same assignment at Monterey Peninsula College and then served as Vice Chancellor for West Valley-Mission College. He then returned to Gavilan College to serve as Superintendent/President. Steve has a Doctor of Business Administration, is an active California Certified Public Accountant, and holds two international certifications: Certified Internal Auditor, and Charted Global Management Accountant. Dr. Kinsella is a retired Marine. Over the course of 23 years of combined active and reserve duty Steve retired as a Major. His assignments have varied widely, starting as an auditor moving his way to Engineering Officer upon entering the Marine Corps Reserve. Dr. Kinsella served in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during the first Gulf War. Dr. Kinsella is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). He was appointed as a Commissioner in October 2009. This is his ninth comprehensive team visit and sixth as a Team Chair.

Dr. Kevin O Rorke Dr. O Rorke began his career in Higher Education in 1998 where he was an academic counselor at Northern Arizona University, he then migrated to nearby Yavapai College to serve as advisor/financial aid coordinator. By 2001, he joined the staff at Arizona State University to work as a senior advisor and faculty member. From there he accepted the position of associate dean of students at Broward College in South Florida. In 2006 he joined Shasta College as the dean of enrollment services and he is now the vice president of student services. He serves as the Chief Student Services Officer Association Region 1 representative and the Matriculation Advisory Committee Region 1 representative to the Chancellor s Office. He holds a bachelor s degree in Public Health Education, a master s degree in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. He also serves on the executive board for the United Way of Northern California, is active member in Shasta County Citizens Against Racism (SCCAR), and was recently honored as a 20 under 40 award winner, a program that identifies emerging north state leaders.
Sunyeen (Sunny) Pai Sunyeen (Sunny) Pai is the Accreditation Liaison Officer and member of the Student Success Center Executive Committee at Kapiolani Community College. As Digital Initiatives Librarian she works with interesting collections unique to the college and creates online libraries. She also oversees a large open computer lab and the assessment and academic testing center. Her education includes studies in sociology, systems management, library science, and computer and information science. She has lived in Asia, South America, and Europe and is still trying to figure out how to make time to travel overseas again.
Dr. Laurie Pemberton Dr. Laurie Pemberton is Director of Institutional Research & Planning at Allan Hancock College (Santa Maria, CA). She has worked in higher education for over 20 years at various community colleges and universities, public and private, non-profit and for-profit, with traditional and distance education environments. Responsibilities have included learning outcomes assessment, institutional research, federal and state reporting, states compliance for distance education programs, strategic planning, operational planning, institutional effectiveness, catalogs and handbooks, policies, student records and registration, curriculum development, accreditation, etc. She currently participates in councils and committees related to learning outcomes and assessment, enrollment management, academic deans, student success support, student learning, budget, institutional effectiveness, and assorted work groups. Dr. Pemberton has been a peer reviewer with The Higher Learning Commission (North Central Association) since 2004, and was a mentor with their Academy for the Assessment of Student Learning during 2007-2011. Laurie received a B.S. in Engineering from U.C.L.A., M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, and traveling.
Dr. Arleen G. Satele Dr. Arleen G. Satele is currently the Vice President of Administrative Services at Cuyamaca College where she has served since 2004. Prior to joining Cuyamaca College, she was the Chief Financial Officer at American Samoa Community College.
