See Centrlizing Endpoints After you instll the Horizon Mirge client, you centrlize the device. Centrliztion ctivtes it in the Mngement console nd synchronizes it with, or ssigns it to, CVD on the Horizon Mirge server so tht you cn centrlly mnge the device dt. When Horizon Mirge is first introduced to n orgniztion, ech device must e cked up, creting copy of it on the server, in the form of Centrlized Virtul Desktop or CVD. You cn then centrlly mnge the device. The endpoint with the client instlled ppers in the Mngement console, in ddition to the We Mnger, s Pending Assignment, nd is pending ctivtion in the system. You ctivte pending device y using centrliztion procedure, which you cn perform with mnul procedure. This provides more control over the process, for exmple, llowing choice of uplod policies, plcement of CVDs on different volumes, nd whether to ssign se lyer. The user cn use the desktop s usul while the centrliztion process runs in the ckground. This ility includes offline work. The client monitors user ctivities nd network chrcteristics encountered y the desktop, such s speed, nd djusts its opertion to optimize the user experience nd performnce. After the server synchroniztion is completed, the trnsction log includes successful endpoint centrliztion or provisioning entry. The desktop is protected nd cn e mnged centrlly t the dt center. Centrlize n Endpoint After the Horizon Mirge client is instlled, the dministrtor cn centrlize the endpoint. Centrliztion performed y the dministrtor provides more control over the process, for exmple, llows choice of uplod policy, plcement of CVDs on different volumes, nd whether to ssign se lyer. You might wnt to dd devices to collection. A collection is folder tht ggregtes CVDs tht shre logicl grouping, for exmple, Mrketing CVDs. You cn then implement relevnt se lyer chnges with single ction on ll CVDs in the collection. See Working with CVD Collections, on pge 30. If you migrte CVD from Windows XP or Vist device to replcement device tht hs Windows 7, you cn select Full System Migrtion or Only Migrte User Dt nd Settings. This is ecuse Horizon Mirge does not trnsfer user-instlled pplictions from Windows XP/Vist to Windows 7system (Horizon Mirge cnnot gurntee cross-os comptiility). When CVD is migrted from Windows XP or Vist to Windows 7, the system strems down to the endpoint fter the CVD hs een migrted so tht the end user cn resume work without witing for ll of the user dt to e downloded first. If Windows 7 endpoint is selected to e restored to Windows XP or Vist CVD, tht Windows 7 endpoint ecomes Windows XP or Vist device. 1 In the Horizon Mirge We Mnger, use the generl serch function to serch for pending devices. 2 Select the required device from the serch results list. 3 In the device informtion window, click Hrdwre Migrtion. 4 Select the CVD form the CVD Selection list nd click Next. 5 Select migrtion option for the selected CVD nd device.
