Home Pge studentemployment.umih.edu The Student Employment Offie website serves s onvenient wy for students to find employment opportunities, while helping University nd non-university employers find qulified student employees. There re three setions to the website: UM Students: Serh through job postings, view py dtes, find other employment resoures (no login neessry). : Post jobs, mnge jobs, view pplints. Non-University Employers: For non-university non-work-study employers wishing to post positions on the site (no login neessry). To get to the University nd Work-Study Employers pge, lik on one of these links

An e-mil reminder is sent to you. One you reeive your pssword, if you hve never logged into the site before, be sure to hnge your ssigned pssword to one of your own hoosing s soon s you log into the site. One your request is reviewed, the Student Employment Offie will send you n e-mil with its deision. Note: Only permnent employees (not temporry or student employees) will be grnted login permission. d Request Permission to Be n Approved Work-Study Employer: This is where someone working for NON-UNIVERSITY geny would go to find out how to beome n pproved Work-Study employer. There re requirements for being non-university Work-Study employer, nd the Student Employment Offie must evlute your request. 2

You will reeive n e-mil messge informing you whether or not the job hs been pproved. d Review Mode Jobs: You my put job in Review Mode if you no longer wnt it posted, but you still wnt to view pplints. Also, you my hoose to keep job in Review Mode if you post it frequently nd wnt to retin the pplint informtion. Some jobs tht re pending pprovl my lso be pled in Review Mode. e Jobs in Storge: These jobs re losed nd not listed on the site. There is no pplint informtion ssoited with these jobs. These jobs re not deleted from the system, nd n be reposted t lter dte. 3

Add New Job (Three-Step Form) Step 1: SUPPLY JOB PROFILE 1 For Selet Ctegory nd Selet Job Title, you re prompted to selet from pre-set lists of U-M Humn Resoures titles. 2 Type of Job: You MUST selet either Work-Study, Non-Work-Study, or both job types. 3 Desribe the Job: This is the speifi desription tht students will see on the web posting. 4 Edutionl Vlue of the Position: This must be ompleted for Work-Study jobs; for non-work-study jobs, you re still enourged to omplete this field if there re some edutionl benefits to the job. Students will see this informtion in the posting. 5 Requirements for the Job (Qulifitions): This is where you let students know extly wht skills re neessry for the job. For exmple, if you need student who n type 60 wpm, inlude tht here. 6 Number of Avilble Openings: Type in how mny students you wnt to hire. 7 Hours per Week: If you need between 5 nd 10 hours of student ssistne week, write 5 in the low end nd 10 in the high end. 8 Strt Dte/End Dte/When Job is Avilble (Time Frme): Use these fields to let students know when you need help. The field When Job is Avilble llows you to indite speifi demi periods nd is mndtory field. 9 Py Rnge: Selet the lowest nd highest wge rtes to be pid by this job. If rnge does not pply, the sme dollr mount n pper in eh setion. 10 Primry Contt Person: Selet yourself s the primry ontt person unless you re posting the job for someone else. 11 Seondry Contts: These people will reeive ll orrespondene bout the job nd will be ble to edit nd mnge the job, just s the primry ontt person; however, their nmes do not pper in the job posting tht students see. Selet the people you wnt nd then lik on the Add>>> button. 12 Job Supervisor: Provide the nme of the individul who will be the student s supervisor, if different from the ontt person. 13 Phone, Fx, E-mil Address, nd Work Lotion: List these only if you wnt them to pper in the job posting. Otherwise students will ontt you by pplying for the job online (see step 2, next pge). DO NOT omplete or edit nything on this pge; we show this form so tht you will know wht informtion students will be submitting. Step 3: GO LIVE When you reh the finl pge of the form, omplete the questions bout when you wnt your job posted nd for how long. Clik here to finish! Mnging Job Posngs (Mnge Job Pge) When you re t your ontrol pnel pge, you n mnge jobs nd student dt pplitions, ontrol how mny jobs n be presented on pge nd hndle fstforwrd, reverse nd pge-speifi options. Also from the ontrol pnel, you n mnge multiple jobs t one time: Delete multiple jobs (we prefer tht employers not utilize this funtion) Export multiple job detils Print multiple job detils Chnge multiple job sttuses MANAGE JOB PAGE: Selet individul job to ess Mnge Job pge Updte Sttus: Chnge whether job is listed on the web, in Review Mode or in Storge (losed). Note: If your job is in Storge, you will lso hve the option to delete the job from the Student Employment Offie dtbse. We strongly urge you not to do this, unless you re sure you will never hire student for tht job gin. b View Applints: View informtion on students who ve pplied for your job online. You hve the hoie of hving the posting remin on the web with the pre-edited informtion until it is pproved, or you my hve the posting removed from the web until the edits re pproved. If you hoose to hve the posting remin on the web, n Updte Shdow of the edited posting will be reted. This is shdow of the other job tht must be pproved while the pre-edited version of the job remins on the site. The Updte Shdow will be in the Jobs Whih Are Pending Approvl stge of the site ( new job referene number is temporrily ssigned to the Updte Shdow, s well). How Students Apply for Jobs One your pproved job hs been posted to the website, students my serh for it online (from the studentemployment.umih.edu home pge, lik on U-M Students to get to the student setion of the site). Students re ble to serh nd pply for job postings 24 hours dy. Depending on the number of jobs pproved t ny given time, your job my pper under Reently posted jobs. When students ondut serh nd find your job, they n lik on Job Detils to revel your posting nd pply online. 10

12 8. Viewing Applints You will reeive n e-mil messge notifying you when student hs submitted Student Dt Applition to pply for your job (see pge 9). To view the Student Dt Applitions you reeive, selet View Applints from either your ontrol pnel or the Mnge Jobs pge. On the E-mil Applints Greeting pge, be sure the students you wnt to send the e-mil to re heked. You my lso dd e-mil ddresses for students who hve ontted you by phone, wlk-in, et. nd did not pply online. You n dd to the preset text in the body of the e-mil or type in your own messge ltogether. Note: Students reeive individul opies of the e-mil messge so they do not see who else reeives the e-mil. REJECTION If there re online pplints you know re not good fit, selet Rejetion to send them n e-mil messge letting them know they did not get the job. Closing Job Sending E-mil Messges to Students You Are Not Hiring 1 If you deide to lose job nd move it to Storge (whether ll positions hve been filled or not), you will be prompted to send e-mil messges to the students who were not hired. Remember, you my hve lredy notified student tht he or she did not get the job by sending them Rejetion e-mil messge (see pge 11), so you probbly do not wnt to send them nother e-mil. Clik on Listed in the Updte Sttus box to move the job from Review Mode or Storge to be listed on the website. b If there hve been ny hnges to the job (inluding hnge to the number of openings), the job must be reviewed nd pproved by the Student Employment Offie before being posted to the site gin. One your job is pproved, you will reeive n e-mil telling you when it hs been listed on the site. d If the number of openings for the job is zero, you will not be ble to selet Listed (to list the job on the site) until you hnge the number to one or more openings. e To do this, go to Edit this Job from the Mnge Job pge or Edit Job from ontrol pnel.
