A date will be decided shortly and we will advise. Although prepartations were proceeding well the ongoning inclement weather together with other community events would effect the excitement and success of our major fundraiser such as the Wangaratta Show, Local Council elections and the Oxley/Milawa Fox Run. We thank those members of our school community that have attended meetings so far. A meeting will be held in November to start co-ordination of this vital school fundraising event to now happen Term 1 of 2017. Welcome Back We hope you all enjoyed your holiday break and are ready for a busy last term for 2016. Baby news A big congratulations to Xavier Norden and his wife Breanna on the safe arrival over the school holidays of their precious daughter, Millie. Uniform Shop We have now received all of our uniform stock and hope to have the uniform shop up and running from school in the next week. Ovens and Mitta Division Athletics Championships Good luck and well done to all those students participating in the Ovens & Mitta Division Athletics Championships being held tomorrow at the Bill Eaton Athletics Complex in Appin Street. Breakfast Club Tuesday was our first Breakfast Club for Term 4 and it was great to see so many students in attendance. Due to the high numbers of students each Tuesday (which is fantastic!), we are running out of staples and would appreciate any donations of raspberry jam, honey and vegemite. Any donation can be left at the office. Thank you to our volunteers for helping out on the morning. If you would like to volunteer on a Tuesday morning, please let the office know. All helpers greatly appreciatied!! Music News Next Friday the 14 th October Prep-Grade 4 students will be going to the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre for a performance of 'Peter and the Wolf' by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. 'Peter and the Wolf' is an orchestral classic for children and has been used for many years to teach children about the instruments of the orchestra. In preparation for this performance all students in Prep-Grade 4 will be involved in 'Peter and the Wolf' activities in music classes. Further to this, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has chosen our school to participate in some special workshops about the orchestra. These workshops will take place tomorrow for Grade 1-2 students only, and will involve three MSO musicians (violin, clarinet and French horn). All Grade 1 students will be performing at assembly this coming Monday 10 th October. The students will be singing two songs about the seasons, which was the focus of their music lessons last term. Please come along to assembly and support them. The School Choir will be singing at the Wangaratta Remembrance Day Service on Friday 11 th November. We are currently working on songs for this occasion. Lyric sheets were sent home last term. Please encourage your child (if they are in the choir) to learn all the lyrics, particularly the hymn 'Abide with Me'. Prep - 2 Sports Day Next Wednesday the 12 th of October, all grade Prep, One and Two students will participate in our Prep - 2 Sports Day here at the school on the Oval between 9:30am and 1:30pm. Like last year, children will rotate around to 10 different activities and Athletic events, as well as some novelty events. Parents are most certainly welcome and encouraged to come along and watch their children participate. We would love to see lots of parents, even if you can only pop in for a little while. We will also enjoy a picnic lunch together with families who are able to stay. Children will be in mixed groups with children of the same grade level from different classes. Each of the ten groups will be allocated a colour to wear on the day to enable parents to find their children easily. If you don t have that colour, please don t panic. Try and borrow from another family or friends, we don t expect you to buy a shirt. You will receive a letter home this week with more information and your child s shirt colour. Book Club Book Club catalogues have/will be sent home this week. Please either order online or return order forms and correct money to the office by Monday 17 th October. Great for Christmas gifts!! This will be the second last catalogue for the year.
