Practice schedule will be determined after the team is selected. 2 As an annual check-up on the education system, the Accountability Pillar provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success. The Accountability Pillar uses a set of 16 indicators consisting of surveys of students, parents and teachers on various aspects of quality; student outcomes such as dropout and high school completion rates; and provincial assessments of student learning. From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey. In January, parents of students in grade 7 will have received a survey from Alberta Education. In February, students in grade 7 and all teachers completed their surveys online at school. All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with the school. In addition to English and French, the parent survey is available in Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Urdu. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly. Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2016, and will be reported publicly as part of their 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports. Please contact Ms. Holoboff if you are able to help out with this. Coming Up - Thursday, April 21 - Junior and Senior Band students field trip to see Triple Rock performance in Red Deer. Monday, May 2 - Music Monday - a celebration of Music in our schools!! SCHOOL FEES School fees for 2015/2016 are due by September 30, Grade 5 & 6 students: $95 Grade 7-9 students: $120 NEW!! School fees may be paid by INSTALLMENTS! Make up to 8 payments during the school year to get your fees paid! Also, the number of recurring payments will decrease each month.

4 IRJC's Make A Change group is asking for donations of 2L milk jugs or pop bottles for an upcoming event to support an awesome cause! Students can bring these in to their homeroom teachers, who will pass them on to Miss Hackett. Thanks in advance for your help! Our IRJC option classes would love to take some unused material off your hands! If you have old scrapbooking material (paper, stamps, cutters, etc.) the Scrapbook Option would gladly take it! 12 Attendance... In order to gain maximum benefits of education, consistent and regular attendance is expected at Iron Ridge Junior Campus. Parents have the responsibility to see that students attend, study and are positively active in the school-approved, teacher-directed, learning experiences. Please notify IRJC at or if your child is going to be absent. NOTE: Voic messages can be left if calling outside school hours. If the school does not receive notice, the parent/guardian will receive a phone call at home, on cell and/or at work to verify the student absence. F o o d F o r S c h o o l P r o g r a m The Food for School Program is designed to provide a lunch for students whose families are experiencing financial difficulties/barriers at home. Lunch can be provided on a regular or incidental basis. If you believe your child would qualify for this program, please contact Carly Lang, the School Social Worker at This program is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Blackfalds Food Bank, various local businesses and churches, the school, as well as volunteers from "After the Grind" coffee shop. School Social Work /Family School Liaison Program There has been a significant change to the way the School Social Work and Family School Liaison program is accessed. Consent is required in order to work with a student. Beginning this school year, consent is needed from one guardian only and students 16 and over can now sign their own consent. If you have any questions be sure to contact the School Social Worker or Family School Liaison Worker at your child s school. Check LOST & FOUND table often! All unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of each month.

The Food for School program is in need of donations!! 15 Raise money for Iron Ridge Junior Campus, simply by eating at Boston Pizza! Our school has partnered with Boston Pizza for Operation Education! of whatever you spend at Boston Pizza gets donated to the school to help with our fundraising goals. All you have to do is: Eat at Boston Pizza anywhere in Central or Northern Alberta, especially in Blackfalds, Red Deer or Lacombe! (let s support local!): Dine-in, Takeout or Delivery. Save your receipt and hand it in at the office. Simple as that! At the end of the term, Boston Pizza will issue a cheque to Iron Ridge Junior Campus to help us with fundraising for things like fieldtrips, sporting events and equipment. Make sure to pass the word on to your friends & neighbours asking them to save their receipts too! The more receipts we receive, the more we make!
