C H A P T E R 2 Installing the sftware Using the cmplete installer Dwnlading and starting the cmplete installer Yu can start the cmplete installer by inserting the DVD int the cmputer r by dwnlading the cmplete installer frm the SMART website. T start the cmplete installer frm the DVD 1. Insert the DVD int the cmputer. The Educatin Sftware Installer dialg bx appears. If the dialg bx desn t appear, brwse t and pen [DVD drive]\cdbrwser.exe. 2. Click Install. The cmplete installer appears. T dwnlad and start the cmplete installer frm the website 1. G t smarttech.cm/sftware, click the Chse a versin buttn fr the sftware yu want t install, and then select the versin f the sftware yu want t install. 2. Click the dwnlad link fr the cmplete installer. 3. Select Yes if yu have prduct keys fr the sftware. OR Select N if yu dn t have prduct keys fr the sftware and want t install a 30-day free trial. 4. Enter the requested infrmatin, and then click Start Dwnlad. 5. Save the file t a temprary lcatin. 6. Duble-click the file. The cmplete installer appears. Installing the sftware using the cmplete installer T install the sftware using the cmplete installer 1. Start the cmplete installer as described in the previus prcedures. 2. If yu accept the terms in the sftware license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next. OR If yu dn t accept the terms in the sftware license agreement, select I d nt accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Cancel. T I P Select a language in the drp-dwn list t display the sftware license agreement in that language. 5. Specify the lcatin where yu want t install the sftware, and then click Next. 6. Select the sftware yu want t install, and then click Next. S If yu select SMART Ntebk, the cmplete installer selects SMART Prduct Drivers autmatically. If yu select SMART Prduct Drivers, the cmplete installer autmatically installs SMART Ink. If yu select SMART Respnse, SMART Ntebk Math Tls r SMART Ntebk 3D Tls, the cmplete installer selects SMART Ntebk and SMART Prduct Drivers autmatically. 7. If yu selected SMART Prduct Drivers r SMART Respnse in step 6, select the sftware yu want t start autmatically when yu first lg n t yur cmputer, and then click Next. 8. If yu selected SMART Prduct Drivers in step 6, select the Make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer t make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer, and then click Next. The Make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer ptin isn t available in Windws 8 perating systems. 9. If yu want t participate in the Custmer Experience Prgram, select Enable the Custmer Experience Prgram n all devices, and then click Next. 10. If yu selected SMART Ntebk in step 6, select the Gallery cllectins yu want t install n t yur cmputer, and then click Next. 5 smarttech.cm/kb/170629

If a language s name is in bld text, the cmplete installer must dwnlad the language s file frm the SMART website. T I P T view the languages native names (fr example, Deutsch fr German), select Shw native names. 12. Click Install. The cmplete installer installs the sftware yu selected in step 6. 13. Click Finish when yu re dne. Depending n the versin f Micrsft.NET Framewrk installed n yur cmputer and the sftware yu selected in step 6, yu might need t restart yur cmputer midway thrugh the installatin. Using the web-based installer Dwnlading and starting the web-based installer Yu can dwnlad the web-based installer frm the SMART website, and then duble-click the dwnladed file t start it. T dwnlad and start the web-based installer 1. G t smarttech.cm/sftware, click the Chse a versin buttn fr the sftware yu want t install, and then select the versin f the sftware yu want t install. 2. If yu selected SMART Prduct Drivers r SMART Respnse in step 6, select the sftware yu want t start autmatically when yu first lg n t yur cmputer, and then click Next. 8. If yu selected SMART Prduct Drivers in step 6, select Make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer t make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer, and then click Next. The Make SMART Ink Dcument Viewer the default PDF viewer ptin isn t available in Windws 8 perating systems. 9. I M P O R T A N T If yu lse Internet access while the web-based installer is dwnlading sftware, the web-based installer des nt install the sftware and displays an apprpriate warning message. Yu must start the web-based installer again t dwnlad and install the sftware. 13. Click Finish when yu re dne. Depending n the versin f Micrsft.NET Framewrk installed n yur cmputer and the sftware yu selected in step 6, yu might need t restart yur cmputer midway thrugh the installatin. 8 smarttech.cm/kb/170629
Chapter 3 Remving the sftware Yu can remve SMART sftware using SMART Uninstaller. T remve SMART sftware 1. In Windws XP and Windws 7 perating systems, select Start > All Prgrams > SMART Technlgies > SMART Tls > SMART Uninstaller. OR In Windws 8 perating system, g t the Apps screen and then scrll t and press SMART Uninstaller. 2. Press Next. 3. Select the check bxes f the SMART sftware and supprting packages that yu want t remve, and then press Next. S Sme SMART sftware is dependent n ther SMART sftware. Fr example, if yu select the SMART Ntebk check bx, SMART Uninstaller selects the SMART Respnse check bx autmatically because SMART Respnse sftware is dependent n SMART Ntebk sftware. SMART Uninstaller autmatically remves any supprting packages that are n lnger being used. If yu chse t remve all SMART sftware, SMART Uninstaller autmatically remves all supprting packages, including itself. T I P S T select all sftware and supprting packages, press Select All. T clear the selectin f all sftware and supprting packages, press Clear All. 4. Press Uninstall. SMART Uninstaller remves the selected sftware and supprting packages. 5.
