1 Last updated: 26 Octber 2011 Create a persnal CV Use the CV mdule within Pure t create several CVs, each targeted twards a different bjective (e.g. a specific prject r funding applicatin). A CV can cntain a range f sectins, each listing a different type f cntent fr example: prfile infrmatin; lists f research utput, activities and prjects; r sectins with additinal headings, text fields and peridical lists. Lists can be filtered, srted and displayed in the frmats native t Pure. Yu can set yur CV t autmatically update as new research utput is added t Pure (dynamic) r yu can chse t update it manually (static). See Appendix n page 5. Create CV Lgin t Pure Click n the My Prfile tab. Nte: If yu are an Editr/Administratr, click n the Persnal tab first. Click n the + Create new CV buttn A new dialg pens allwing yu t chse the type f CV yu wish t create: Private CV nly available and visible t yu and Pure administratrs. OR Public CV will be shwn n the public research prtal. (Select Published when finished creating yur CV t display yur research highlights n the prtal.) AND Draft OR Published, then click n the Create buttn. Anther dialg pens displaying the type f infrmatin yu can chse t add t yur CV, based n yur cntent within Pure. In additin t persnal infrmatin, ptins include research utput, prjects, and activities. Tick the checkbxes next t the cntent yu wish t add t yur CV, and click n the Create buttn. Yur newly created CV pens in a new windw. The infrmatin yu selected in the previus windw is displayed listed in sectins. If yu are happy with the infrmatin displayed, click n the Save buttn. 2 In the Save CV dialg, enter an apprpriate Title and click n Save again. Yu will be returned t the main My CVs page with Pure. - All the CVs yu create will be listed n this page. If yu wish t edit a CV at any time, click n its name nce t pen it in a new windw. Edit CV Lgin t Pure and click n the My Prfile tab t view yur CVs. Nte: If yu are an Editr/Administratr, click n the Persnal tab first. Click nce n the name f the CV yu want t edit t pen it in a new windw. Ntice the menu bar ptins at the tp f the editing windw: - Dwnlad as PDF: Open and/r Save CV as a PDF. - Dwnlad t Wrd: Open and/r Save CV as Wrd file this ptin allws yu t frmat the CV, i.e. fnts, styles, clurs, etc. - Save: Whenever yu make any changes t yur CV, yu must Save befre clsing. - Cpy: Creates a cpy f the pen CV. - Delete: Deletes the pen CV frm Pure. As yu mve yur cursr ver sectins f the CV, the editable areas are highlighted by a dashed grey line and a list f editing ptins is displayed in the left margin. - Frm left t right, the editing ptins are: mve up, mve dwn, drag, delete, and edit. Mve sectin r heading Mve yur cursr ver a sectin r heading until yu see the dashed line. Click n the up/dwn arrws r the mve icn t mve the sectin t a new lcatin n the page. 3 Delete sectin r heading Mve yur cursr ver a sectin r heading until yu see the dashed line. Click n the crss icn t remve the sectin heading. Dn t frget t save any changes! Edit sectin heading Mve yur cursr ver a heading until yu see the dashed line then click n Edit. Type in yur new heading, then mve yur cursr t the left margin and click n Edit again t cmplete. Dn t frget t save any changes! Edit sectin cntent Mve yur cursr ver the sectin cntent until yu see the dashed line. Click n Edit. The Settings fr list dialg pens allwing yu t filter, srt and display the list f sectin cntent as yu wish. Select ptins as apprpriate then click OK. Dn t frget t save any changes! What is Dynamic/static list? By default, all CV cntent is dynamically generated. This means that when yu submit new research utput t Pure, yur CVs are updated autmatically. Hwever, if yu wish t edit the rder f a sectin list, r remve an entry frm it, yu must first make the list static. Fr mre abut dynamic and static lists, see Appendix n page 5. Add sectin This feature is particularly useful if yu want t add additinal sectins frm yur Prfile such as research interests, keywrds, etc. as these are nt added autmatically by Pure. 4 Click Add sectin. Frm the Add sectin dialg, select the type f infrmatin yu wish t add. Fr example: - if yu want t add a new sectin fr Research Papers, select List f yur research utput - if yu want t add a new sectin abut yur Research interests r Prfessinal Qualificatins, select Prfile infrmatin - if yu want t add free text, select Text sectin In the Settings fr the new sectin dialg, type in a Header fr the new sectin, then use any srt and filter ptins as apprpriate befre clicking n Add. 5 Appendix: dynamic and static lists By default, all CV cntent is dynamically generated. This means that when yu submit new research utput t Pure, yur CVs are updated autmatically. Hwever, yu will be unable t mve r delete individual entries frm a list. If yu wish t edit the rder f a sectin list, r remve an entry frm it, yu must first make the list static, via the Edit ptin. Highlight the sectin yu wish t edit and click n Edit. Click n the Make static buttn. Once the sectin list is static, new editing ptins will be displayed in the right margin alngside each list entry. Use these t manually rearrange r delete individual entries. Yu can als add cntent manually. Hver yur cursr between list items, click n Add prject and search fr the cntent. Dn t frget t save any changes! Caveats When yu make a list static, new cntent submitted t Pure will nt be added t the list autmatically. Hwever, Pure will prmpt yu if new cntent has been submitted since yu last updated yur CV and allw yu t add the new cntent manually.
