2. How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2014 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program(s) will be offered in 2014. Enrolling in units for 2014 1. Read Section 3. Program for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units. A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit. A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or corequisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator. 2. Refer to the unit listings in Section 4. Units Offered in 2014 to select your units. Take note of the study period in which units are offered. 3. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/332297) for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. Administration & Enrolment also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 4. Log on to Student Connect and enrol (http://students.acu.edu.au/136953). Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online. IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enrol or re-enrol before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/381148) may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enrol in, please ensure that you enrol or re-enrol in at least one unit before the due date. Enrolling in at least one unit by the due date will enable you to add further units, or amend your enrolment via Student Connect up until the final dates published in the Critical Dates for Variation of Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/273880). last updated on 4-Mar-14 Page 4

3. Program The Master of Commerce is ideal for those seeking a career in a senior position in marketing, accounting, human resource management or business information systems. This program, which is new for 2014, was developed in consultation with peak and industry bodies. As well as providing an advanced understanding of commerce and management, the course offers students the choice of four specialisations. This course is highly suitable for graduates with a non-business degree who want a senior management career in business or business graduates seeking a deeper knowledge of their field of practice. The Master of Commerce has a common first semester for all majors. Students are not committed to take any specific major at commencement of the course, but will be required to do so on completion of the first four units. Therefore, students have an opportunity to change their mind about their preferred major, or to ensure that they satisfy the entry requirements for the Accounting major. In all cases, students must talk with the Course Coordinator before commencing any major in the MCom to ensure compliance with course requirements. Students who may be eligible for advanced standing are not obliged to take up part or all of the advanced standing if they do not wish to do so. There may be a number of reasons for forgoing advanced standing, including a desire to update knowledge and skills in a discipline before taking more complex units, or to satisfy visa requirements for a minimum period of study. Also, the pattern of advanced standing may differ from student to student depending on their past academic endeavours. Students requesting advanced standing should specify the specific units for which they are seeking advanced standing, providing evidence supporting their request. FOR THE ACCOUNTING MAJOR: The Accounting major has specific admission requirements. The Accounting major is based on and includes the CPA Program at the professional level. It is a condition of entry into the CPA Program, and therefore the Accounting major, that students provide evidence of their enrollment in the CPA Program. This condition applies to all applicants for the Accounting major, domestic as well as international. This will require evidence from the student of confirmation by CPA Australia that a student is eligible to take the CPA Program, and to sit the CPA Program examinations, for which students must pay CPA Australia directly. On payment of CPA Program fees, students will also receive comprehensive study materials directly from CPA Australia. This is a condition of entry into the Accounting major. On successful completion of the Accounting major and the CPA administered examinations, students will satisfy the academic requirements for full CPA membership.. last updated on 4-Mar-14 Page 5

REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE AWARD For information on the duration of your course, and the requirements to complete your award, please refer to the Course Rules for your program. Evidence of such enrolment must be provided to the relevant course coordinator before enrolment in the respective units within the major 4. Students must provide to the Australian Catholic University, hard-copy evidence of their results from the CPA module examinations. Notice for students who wish to exit from a course of study other than that for which they are enrolled (a) (b) if you intend to continue with your current course, you are not permitted to exit with a lower level award, however you may request a letter from your Course Coordinator confirming that you have satisfied the requirements for the relevant lower award; if you do in fact exit with a lower level award and subsequently wish to resume your studies in the higher level course, you will be required to reapply for admission to that course in order to resume your studies. last updated on 4-Mar-14 Page 6
