How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2014 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program(s) will be offered in Enrolling in units for Read Section 3. Program Information for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units. A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit. A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or co-requisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator. 2. Refer to the unit listings in Section 4. Units Offered in 2014 to select your units. Take note of the study period in which units are offered. 3. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website ( for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. Administration & Enrolment also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 4. Log on to Student Connect and enrol ( Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online. IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enrol or re-enrol before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website ( may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enrol in, please ensure that you enrol or reenrol in at least one unit before the due date. Enrolling in at least one unit by the due date will enable you to add further units, or amend your enrolment via Student Connect up until the final dates published in the Critical Dates for Variation of Enrolment on the ACU website ). You are responsible for your enrolment and ensuring its accuracy. Students please note: The course enrolment guides are subject to change. Program Information 3.1 Course Structure To qualify for the pass degrees, a student must complete 320cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings consisting of: 1. 60cp Major from Christian Practice Core Units; 2. 40cp Minor from Biblical Studies Units including 10cp from the Core Unit; 3. 40cp Minor from Christian Thought Core Units; cp from Social Work Units; 5. 20cp from Program Core units; 6. 40cp from Social Work Field Education Units; and 7. 20cp from University Core Units. Students should consult the program map below for the structure of the dual degree. Note: 1. Full details are in the Course Rules 2. Some sequences may not be available at a particular campus 3. Students who commenced prior to 2009 will complete their course in accordance where possible with the Course Rules in place at the time of their enrolment. Continuing students who require further advice should contact their Course Coordinator. Unit Offerings Unit offerings will vary subject to student demand and lecturer availability. Electives will vary between campuses from year to year. Mode of Offering The course is available either full-time or part-time in a variety of modes, the major mode being oncampus day and evening sessions, but also including vacation and weekend schools. The field placement components of the Bachelor of Social Work (two placements) will be carried out in approved agencies. REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE AWARD For information on the duration of your course, and the requirements to complete your award, please refer to the Course Rules for your program. Course Title Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Social Work Course Rules The Core Curriculum The Australian Catholic University Core Curriculum has been designed to focus on aspects of the University s identity and mission. The units emphasises critical judgment, clear expression, ethical decision-making and concern for others, as individuals and as a community. The Core is comprised of a total of five units: Two University Core units: All students in the Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Social Work are required to complete the following University Core units as part of this program: UNCC100 UNCC300 Our World, Community and Vulnerability Understanding Self and Society: Contemporary Perspectives

In this case, students are required to purchase a headset with a microphone. A Logitech headset such as the USB H330 is adequate and generally works with both PCs and MACs. However, some MAC users have experienced problems with the USB H330 and so there is a MAC compatible Logitech headset H530. Additionally, students need to access their ACU Student regularly as there are times when lecturers delivering flexibly or online will contact students by . IMPORTANT NOTE University Core Units UNCC100 Our World, Community and Vulnerability and UNCC300 Understanding Self and Society: Contemporary Perspectives a) UNCC units are often taught over differing week patterns to allow for student placements at various times during semester. Students should take special care to note the week pattern of tutorials when they allocate in Tutorial Direct to ensure that they are choosing the correct stream for their course b) Please consult with your Course Coordinator if the following applies to you: You need to repeat a UNCC unit due to a previous fail grade. You are unable to complete a UNCC unit during the standard semester it is offered. You plan to enrol in an advertised international option specific to the Core.

Students from any ACU campus may enrol, however all students must enrol through the nominated campus. Students will be able to participate in webinars on their own campus at a designated PC lab, or wherever they have access to a broadband internet connection.
