4 2 HOW TO APPLY Standard application deadlines Please note that some courses have early deadlines. Check website for specific dates. Domestic: Semester 1 entry: 31 October 2013 Semester 2 entry: 30 June 2014 International: Semester 1 entry: 31 October 2013 Semester 2 entry: 30 April 2014 We cannot guarantee that late applications will be processed for the proposed start date. STEP 1 Select the course that you want to study Consult this guide and the faculty websites for course details. Make a note of the full course title, course code and code. You can apply for up to three courses, in order of preference. If you are not accepted for your first choice, you will automatically be considered for your other preferences. sydney.edu.au/courses STEP 2 Check the entry requirements (see course index on following pages) i) International : To be considered for entry as an international student you must not be one of the following: a citizen of Australia or New Zealand (including joint citizenship), or a permanent resident of Australia. sydney.edu.au/internationaloffice/student/international ii) Standard English language requirements: Please note that English language requirements vary between courses. Be sure and check the specific course entry prior to applying. Scores over two years old will not be accepted. iii) Specific academic requirements: There are specific academic requirements for each course. Health and security checks are also required for courses involving fieldwork in the New South Wales hospital and education systems. 5 3 STEP 3 Submit your application You have two different ways of applying to study at the University of Sydney. Choose which option is most suitable for you. i) Apply direct to the University: International can apply direct to the University from anywhere in the world via our online application form. Simply register with the apply online application service, select your preferred course, complete the application form and upload all relevant supporting documentation. Alternatively, you can download and complete an application form and submit it via mail, fax or . sydney.edu.au/courses sydney.edu.au/future_/ international_postgraduate_coursework/ admissions ii) Apply through a University representative: We have representatives in more than 50 countries who offer assistance in all aspects of the application procedure. To locate a representative near you refer to sydney.edu.au/internationaloffice/agents Make sure you read all course and application information carefully and follow instructions provided when completing your application. This will help ensure your application can be processed efficiently and with minimal delays. Please note that Study Abroad can also apply direct or through a representative. sydney.edu.au/studyabroad What happens next? When we receive your application we will assess it. This usually takes four to six weeks. You will be considered for admission if you meet the University s minimum eligibility criteria. The offer of a place also depends upon the number of places available and the quality of those competing.
