STEP schools Educational Psychologist 36.5 hours per week Term Time only Salary - 40,000-45,000 (dependent upon experience) We are a cross-phase partnership of 7 schools in Kings Heath and Moseley strongly committed to improving outcomes for children and their families. We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Educational Psychologist to support across the schools in our group. Working across the schools on a pro-rata basis you will carry out initial assessments, ongoing casework and contribute to meeting the statutory requirements of an Educational Psychologist as laid out in the Code of Practice. In addition, you will provide an intensive level of support to staff across the schools to develop their own practice in relation to meeting the learning and emotional needs of children with SEND and their families. All schools offer a friendly and welcoming environment with committed and supportive leadership and staff. Applicants must have appropriate qualifications to work as an Educational Psychologist. They must be eligible for registration with the Health Care Professions Council. An enhanced DBS check will be required. The position is a one year fixed term contract in the first instance. This is a new role with the potential to be developed further. The longer term vision is to create a pro-active approach to supporting SEND, rooted in early and effective intervention. Job Purpose - 45 000 1.1 To provide a psychological service to the children, young people and families served by the schools in STEP 2. Duties & Responsibilities 2.1 To ensure early identification of SEND to minimize impact on educational achievement 2.2 To provide and co-ordinate recommendations for appropriate interventions for children with SEND 2.3 To support schools to evaluate and improve their own practice in relation to provision for SEND 2.4 To provide Statutory Psychological Advice to the Local Authority as part of the EHCP process and to contribute where necessary to the Annual Reviews of children. 2.6 To work in partnership with other agencies to ensure effective provision for all children 2.7 To comply with legal, regulatory, ethical requirements (including the British Psychological Society Code of Ethics). 2.8 To maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field of psychology in compliance with the requirements of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). 2.9 To engage with regular evidence based supervision and performance review. Possesses an honours degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification which is acceptable to the British Psychological Society as the graduate basis for registration as a chartered psychologist. Possesses a post graduate qualification in Educational Psychology or an equivalent qualification recognised by the British Psychological Society. Is eligible for registration with the Health & Care Professions Council evidence will be required prior to commencing the post. You will receive supervision and you will be required to contribute to your own Personal Development Review which takes place annually with a mid-year review.
