Tuskegee Parks and Recreation in its current form was reestablished by the City of Tuskegee, Alabama in 2013 by the City Council to address the recreational needs of the citizens of Tuskegee, AL. Tuskegee Parks and Recreation (TPR) is the lead recreational opportunity provider for Macon County, AL and its surrounding communities. TPR currently sponsor youth programs in football, volleyball, cheerleading, boys and girls basketball, girls fast-pitch softball, track, and a summer health and fitness camp. In 2016, TPR is seeking to expand and offer youth programs in archery, soccer, and swimming. TPR is also seeking to add adult programs in basketball, softball, flag football, and kickball. At the youth level, TPR believes that recreational and competitive sports programs provide discipline, structure, and opportunities to instill respect and leadership qualities in youth. Adult programs offer an opportunity for fellowship among the various communities while creating a sense of family among the youth and adults in Macon County. Tuskegee Parks and Recreation in 2014 and 2015 has received grants from Academy Sports and Outdoors, The Arthritis Foundation (via National Recreation and Parks Association), The Walmart Foundation (via NRPA), USA Archery (via Alabama Recreation and Parks Association), Molten Volleyball, and Alabama Pro Health Grant. Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs According to Columbia, MO Parks and Recreation Department, Parks and Recreation agencies provide many benefits for their communities including: Strengthens community image and sense of place Supports economic development Strengthens safety and security Promotes health and wellness Fosters human development Increases cultural unity Protects environmental resources Facilitates community problem solving Provides recreational experiences Supporting Tuskegee Parks and Recreation Tuskegee Parks and Recreation appreciates your interest in becoming a sponsor.
