Cisco AnyConnect VPN for: Windows 8 Introduction The following instructions detail how to set up Cisco VPN for Microsoft Windows using NetID+. You will need to use VPN with NetID+ if you are trying to access campus resources that require you to be behind the firewall. NOTE: When installing the Cisco VPN client, Firefox is the recommended browser. The screenshots in this guide are from a Windows 8 computer. Download and Installation of Cisco AnyConnect Go to http://uits.arizona.edu/services/netidplus to setup your NetID+ account if you have not already done so. After you download and install NetID+ open an Internet browser and go to https://vpn.arizona.edu to install VPN. There will be a log in window which requires a NetID and NetID password. The group should be left on its default setting of 1-UASSLClient. 64-bit Windows After logging in, the installation program will explain that it cannot be automatically installed on 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer. Click Download or wait 30 seconds for the procedure to automatically continue. Last Update: January 2015 Version 1.2 1

32-bit Windows After logging in, the installation program will attempt to automatically install using ActiveX, but will fail, as shown in the following screen. Click Download or wait for the installation to fail to continue. Click the link marked Windows 7/Vista/64XP to begin the download process. Choose Run from the list of options. Last Update: January 2015 Version 1.2 2

If prompted, click Yes to allow the installer to make changes to the computer. The installer will continue without any further intervention. Once the installation has completed, an icon for the Cisco AnyConnect Security Mobility client will appear in the pane view. Last Update: January 2015 Version 1.2 4

The VPN client will connect. If updates are necessary the client will automatically download and install them and then connect. Once the VPN is connected a small box signifying this will open in the task tray area. Establishing a VPN Connection Using NetID+ Establishing a VPN connection with NetID+ is very similar to the normal sign-on process. When you start your VPN client you will be prompted for your NetID username and password as before, but there will be an additional field titled NETID+ Option.
