Grade: APT&C spine points 24-27 Staff will normally be appointed at the bottom of the salary scale. Salary: Hours of work: Responsible to: Responsible for: Division: 25,464 27,670 (incl. LWA) per annum. We will normally appoint at the bottom of the salary scale unless the successful candidate has relevant experience relating to the selection criteria over and above what is required. 36 hours per week. Monday Friday predominantly during normal business hours. However, there will be occasions when the post holder is required to work on evenings and weekends so flexibility is required. Head of Marketing & Communications No line management responsibility Marketing & Communications Job Purpose To project-manage the Morley College London events planning process and logistical requirements for a wide range of events, such as Open Days, public lectures, receptions, and Winter Fair, as well as other performances, concerts, private views, ceremonies and productions for which the post holder will act as the central point between the marketing department and the curriculum areas organising such events, both internal and external. In addition, to project-manage ongoing development of the College s membership association, in close co-ordination with the College s service provider, and organise fundraising receptions and member-specific events and activities. The organisation and planning of member-related events and activities will be an important part of this coordination, as well as the timely delivery of member-related information and content relating to communities of practice in the subject areas within Arts, Humanities and Applied Sciences.

As part of their role, the post holder will contribute to the objectives of the marketing department, which are to manage engagement with our public and to positively support the objectives of the College to include increasing recruitment, profile raising and building the reputation in London across our portfolio. The post holder should be able to provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers. Working with The post holder will develop productive working relationships with staff from all sections of the College, its learners and other College stake holders as appropriate. The Post holder will have specific contact with the following staff: All Marketing and Communications team members The College s membership service provider Curriculum Areas staff Gallery manager The Principal s office Main activities Project Management 1. To work with internal teams to put together event plans and agreed timelines of activity for college events. 2. To manage the college s performance and events calendar and ensure that it is communicated across college. 3. To be the college s point of contact for member relations, and to manage operational co-ordination with the college s service provider to ensure the ongoing success of the College s membership association. 4. To be responsible for project managing events from initial conception to final delivery; working with curriculum teams to ensure that each event is successfully delivered and meets agreed objectives. 5. Overseeing the onsite management to ensure the smooth and efficient running of each event, with regards to logistics. 6. To manage event budgets and provide full breakdown of event costs, ensuring that each event comes in on time and to budget. 7. To review the performance of each event and provide comprehensive event evaluations in order to measure the success of each event and provide any recommendations for future improvement. 8. To plan effective and timely event communications, in order to maximise attendance. 9. To utilise events to promote the wider work that Morley undertakes, both at the college and in the community. 10. To be proactive in proposing new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.

11. To provide a full overview as to the college s overall annual event schedule. 12. To ensure that all event communications and activity adhere to the Morley College brand, and ensure it is used correctly across all channels. 13. Conduct research and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities. 14. To drive event management best practice within the college. Event Logistics and Administration 15. Handle all aspects of event logistics and administration including; venue and equipment booking, layouts, invitations, ticketing, catering, entertainment and onsite management. 16. To develop and implement business processes to support event planning and management. 17. To develop and manage positive relationships with any external suppliers to ensure preferential rates and support for Morley events. Customer Service 18. To provide professional and effective services to internal and / or external customers, to meet customer expectations, particularly in terms of quality and timeliness in line with the college s standards, procedures and guidelines. 19. To communicate courteously with internal and / or external customers by telephone, email and face to face, building positive relationships, investigating, responding to and progressing issues and queries to a successful conclusion at the earliest time. 20. To speak positively and enthusiastically about the college and its products and services to ensure that a professional company and brand image is provided at all times to customers and colleagues. Teamwork 21. To work as part of a wider team to ensure the success of the College s membership association and Morley events. 22. To work together with other departments and divisions within the college to identify any process improvements and improve standards, efficiency and profitability. 23. Main Conditions of Service 1. You will be employed by Morley College Limited. 2. The Events and Alumni Development Officer will be appointed to APT&C spine point 24 to 27, currently 25,464 27,670 including London Weighting Allowance per annum. Applicants will usually be appointed at the bottom of the salary scale. 3. Normal working hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday which may include some evening work. The successful applicant may be required to work at weekends to accommodate specific College activities. No payment for overtime is made, but appropriate time-off in lieu will be granted. 4. The annual leave entitlement is 30 days per annum, excluding public holidays and additional closure days. 5. The post is pensionable under the Local Government Pension Scheme, administered by the London Pensions Fund Authority. 6. There is a 6-month probationary period. 7. The College does not recognise service with any previous employer for calculating continuous service for the purposes of the Employment Rights Act 1996. Any previous continuous local government service however, may be counted as part of continuous employment with the Company for redundancy pay purposes. 8.
