Matrix Technical Support Mailer 88 Configuring SPARSH VP248 as Extended IP Phone of ETERNITY Dear Friends, In this mailer we will see how to configure MATRIX IP Phone SPARSH VP248 as an Extended IP Phone of ETERNITY. When we configure SPARSH VP248 as an Extended IP phone it takes on all the functions of EON48, the proprietary Digital Key Phone except some features (like Back Ground Music, CO Call Waiting, Hot Desking, and Live Call Screening). To register SPARSH VP248 with ETERNITY as an extended IP phone first of all we need to ensure that the IP phone s LAN Port, ETERNITY s Master Ethernet Port & VoIP Card s WAN (or LAN whichever used) Port should be in the same network(i.e. Local LAN Network or Public IP Network). Some of the ways how the connectivity over a network can be are shown below for your better understanding: Possibility 1:- Possibility 2:- Master Ethernet Port VoIP Card WAN/LAN Port SPARSH VP248 LAN Switch Master Ethernet Port VoIP Card WAN Port Public IP Network SPARSH VP248

Possibility 3:- Master Ethernet Port VoIP Card WAN port SPARSH VP248 LAN Router WAN SPARSH VP248 Public IP Network

Programming :- Configuration required in ETERNITY :- Open the Web based programming GUI of ETERNITY. Here under the Configuration Menu go to VoIP Configuration. Here click on SIP Extension Settings. Step 1: Here for SIP Extension 1: In General Parameters enable the SIP extension, select the VoIP Port Number, configure the SIP ID, Authentication ID, Authentication Password & other related parameters that you want to assign to the Extended IP extension.

Step 2: Now click on Location-1. Here Enable the Matrix Extended IP-Phone mode & select the Extended Phone Type as SETU VP248 (SPARSH VP248). Finally configure the MAC Address of SETU VP248 in the option of MAC Address as shown

Configurations required in SPARSH VP248 :- Follow the below steps one by one to configure SPARSH VP248 as an Extended SIP extension of ETERNITY 1. Connect the Phone in the same network of Master Card & VoIP Card 2. Switch on the phone 3. Message Booting will be displayed on the phone 4. After that Loading message will appear on the display 5. When Loading appears, press # on keypad 6. Phone will show you two options > Standard SIP > Extended SIP Select the option of Extended SIP 7. Phone will ask whether to change the Network Settings Select Yes Configure the various Network Parameters one by one which ever required :- - Connection Type (Static/DHCP/PPPoE) - IP Address (if Static Selected) - Subnet Mask - Gateway Address - DNS Server (Static/Automatic) - DNS Address ( If Static DNS selected) - DNS Domain Name - PPPoE User ID (If Connection type selected is PPPoE) - PPPoE Password (If Connection type selected is PPPoE) - PPPoE Service Name (If Connection type selected is PPPoE) - Server Address (Enter ETERNITY s Master Card s IP Address) - Server port (Enter the Web/HTTP port of ETERNITY Master) - VLAN settings - PCAP trace

Once the settings have been done, press the Enter key on the IP phone. The Phone will reboot itself & send its request to ETERNITY. ETERNITY will first of all authenticate the phone by verifying its MAC address. Once the authentication is done, ETERNITY will transfer the configuration files to the phone. (ETERNITY also auto upgrades the firmware of the IP phone if required) Once done, details such as SIP Id, Name, Date & Time will appear on the phone indication that the IP Phone is successfully registered as an Extended IP extension of ETERNITY...As we saw in the sample programming, for SIP Extension 1, we configured the details of VP248 in Location 1. With same Extension details, 2 more VP248 from other locations can get registered. We need to enter the MAC Address of those phones in Location 2 & Location 3 respectively. Thus ETERNITY offers the feature of Call Forking for a user to register his extension from 3 different locations with the same SIP Id & extension details.
