2. Fundamental Usages There are two types of extensions that can be created in the IPPBX. One is FXS Peer, which means that you need to connect the traditional analog phone to the FXS port of the IPPBX and then you can make a phone call. The other one is the SIP Peer, which means you have to use the VoIP product to register to the IPPBX. 2.1 How to register soft phone to IPPBX In this scenario we are going to show you how to register soft phone to IPPBX. Here we use ZyXEL V100 Soft Phone to be the SIP Peer to register to the X2002. There are two goals to achieve in this scenario. The first is to go to IPPBX to create the SIP account for the soft phone and the second part is to configure the VoIP related settings in the V100 Soft Phone. In this scenario, the Soft Phone needs to go to X2002 which has the IP address to register the SIP account Figure 5. Register V100 soft phone to X Setting up the IPPBX Create Authority Group Before adding a new extension in the IPPBX, we have to create the Authority Group first. This is because we use Authority Group to assign the privileges to the extensions. Therefore the extensions in different Authority Groups would have different privileges for making the calls. For example, you may configure all the extensions of the Authority Group -1 to be allowed to make the international calls but the extensions of the Authority Group -2 to be allowed only to make the local calls. To create a new Authority Group, please follow the steps as below: Step 1: Connect your workstation to the LAN port of the X2002. Open the web browser from your workstation to connect to the X2002 by entering the default Management IP address of the LAN port, 6

Step 2: ZyXEL IP PBX Support Note Use admin as Username and 1234 as Password to log in the X2002. Figure 6. Web Configurator: Login Step 3: On the upper site of the screen click the Configuration tab. Step 4: In the left column, click PBX Extension Management Authority Group to display the Authority Group configuration menu and then click the add icon. Figure 7. 19 2.4 How to connect the IPPBX to a legacy PBX with an FXO module After our customers have purchased the IPPBX, the first thing needs to be done is to let the extensions of both systems to communicate with each other. In this scenario, we plan to use the FXO module of the IPPBX to connect to the legacy PBX. As for the legacy PBX, all the telephone lines, which connect to the analog phones, are the extensions of Line Card. Therefore the telephone line 8300 which connects to the FXO module just like 8100 and 8200 are the extensions of the legacy PBX. The purpose is to let the extension 1000 to make the call to the extensions 8100 and Also the extensions 8100 and 8200 must be able to make the calls to the extension Figure 26. Topology Setting up the IPPBX Create Authority Group Please follow the steps in Create Authority Group. Create SIP Peer Please follow the steps in Create SIP Peer. Create the Outbound Group Before adding new Outbound Group, please make sure you already have plugged in at least one FXO module into the IPPBX. To create a new Outbound Group, please follow the steps below: 19

Step 1: Click Configuration on the top of the screen. Step 2: Click PBX Outbound Line Management Outbound Line Group to get to the Outbound Group configuration screen and then click the add icon of the FXO Trunk item. Figure 27. PBX -> Outbound Line Management ->Outbound Line Group Step 3: Fill in the Group Name for this Outbound Group. Here, the name we give to this Outbound Group is To_PBX. Figure 28. Add/Edit FXO Trunk 20

Step 4: Now you already have added a new Outbound Group. Click the Advanced icon to configure this Outbound Group. Figure 29. Configure outbound group: To_PBX Step 5: Move the correct Slot and Port, which you have used to connect to the legacy PBX to the Used Interface column. Here, we use the Port 1 of the Slot B to connect to the legacy PBX, so we move it to the Used Interface column. Figure 30. Configure an FXO Trunk 21

Create the LCR Step 1: Go to the LCR List screen and click the Add icon to add a new LCR. Figure 31. Configuration -> PBX -> Outbound Line Management -> LCR Step 2: Fill in the name for this new LCR in the LCR Name column. Move the Outbound Group IPPBX_001: To_PBX from the Pool column to the Selected column. Click Apply to save and apply the settings. Step 3: Click the Add icon of the Dial Condition List field to add the dial pattern for this LCR. Figure 32. LCR configuration 22

Step 4: In order to make a call to the extensions 8100 and 8200 you have to add two dial conditions in this LCR. Please refer to the sample configuration below to add two entries for this LCR. Figure 33. LCR: Dial Condition Step 5: You can also use the Regular Expression to add a range of the extension numbers. * Regular expression X: 0~9 Z: 1~9 N: 2~9 [4-6]: {4,5,6}. : Any numeric combination <Note> Regular expression must be the capital letter For example, we can use 8XXX to be the Dial Condition. Then it would represent the extension numbers from 8000 to Thus all the extensions are covered by this dial condition. 23

Figure 34. LCR: Dial Condition Step 6: Get back to the LCR List / LCR Item screen. Here we can see that there is a dial condition entry. Figure 35. Dial Condition List 24

Configure Group Management Step 1: Click on the Group Management tab in the left column to open the Group Management screen. Click on the Add icon of the Authority Group, this is because we want to allow all the extensions of the authority group test to access the LCR we have created. Figure 36. Configuration -> PBX -> Group Management Step 2: Enable the check box of the LCR (To_Legacy_PBX) to privilege this Authority Group (test) to access this LCR (To_Legacy_PBX). Figure 37. Assigning an LCR to an Authority Group 25

2.4.2 Making a call from the IPPBX to the extensions of legacy PBX To make a call to the extensions of the legacy PBX just dial the extension number directly. When the extension numbers users dial are matching the dial condition of the LCR (To_Legacy_PBX), then the IPPBX would use this LCR for making the call. The signal would go through the Outbound Group (To_PBX) to the legacy PBX Making a call from the legacy PBX to the extensions of IPPBX To make a call to the extensions of the IPPBX, users have to dial the extension number 8300 first. When hearing the Auto Attendant greeting from the IPPBX, the users can dial the extension number they want to reach. Note: 8300 is what we used for connecting to the FXO interface of the IPPBX. Therefore all the calls to the IPPBX must go through this interface. To the legacy PBX, the interface connected to the IPPBX is one of the extensions. 3. EZ Provisioning Originally, auto provisioning is provided to deploy a new IP hard phone. It allows the administrator to configure VoIP related settings on ZyXEL s SIP clients from a central location. When a ZyXEL device is configured for auto provisioning, it attempts to find an auto provisioning server on its network. ZyXEL devices use Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) to find the IP address of auto provisioning server (ex: X2002). However, the administrator must create a profile in the server for this new phone in advance so that the new phone can obtain the configuration from the server. Hence, EZ provisioning is introduced to allow the administrator to configure the new phone simply by dialing out from this phone. No pre-configured profile is required in advance in this scenario. The process of EZ provisioning is described as below. 26

During the booting, the new IP hard phone will still go through the auto provisioning process. Since the pre-configured profile is not created yet, the phone will obtain a temporary profile that is specifically for EZ provisioning. Then, the IP hard phone will have the only ability of dialing out to reach the EZ provisioning IVR. While dialing the specific number (ex: **99), this IP hard phone will append its MAC address to the sent-out digits next to **99 in order to be recognized as a hard phone. The scenario is shown in Figure 38. Invalid PIN code No **99 (+MAC) EZ Provisioning IVR Enter Admin PIN Permission Check? Yes Extension Create/Delete Delete Create Cancel Confirm Again MAC Exists? 28 For a new FXS port, which is not assigned any extension, EZ provisioning also provides a way to create a new extension and associate this extension with the FXS port. The process is shown in Figure 39. Invalid PIN code No **99 EZ Provisioning IVR Enter Admin PIN Permission Check?
