1 Matrix Technical Support Mailer-66 How To Upgrade ETERNITY ME/GE/PE & How To Take Configuration Back-Up? Dear Friends, MATRIX COMSEC is very fast in implementing new features in all products to fulfill requirements of channel partners and customers. It is obvious that new feature implementation requires specific modification or new development of firmware. Some times such changes also required to resolve unexpected bugs in existing system firmware. This mailer carries information about how to upgrade/degrade system software and take back up of ETERNITY [ME/GE/PE] configuration. Note: Before upgrading any system please contact to MATRIX COMSEC Technical Support Team to prevent problems like incompatibility of ETERNITY Slave cards with Master card or parameters default. FTP operations can be done from Web Browser, Windows Explorer and using few other FTP tools

2 How To Upgrade/Degrade ETERNITY? Up gradation/degradation Procedure Using Web Browser Step 1.1: Open the Jeeves by entering IP assigned to ETERNITY IP Assigned To Access ETERNITY Please Click On The Following Link This option is available in Version 8

3 Note: In Jeeves of ETERNITY from firmware V9 onwards Upload/Download Configurations is renamed as Firmware Upgrade [See below] Step 1.2: After click on to link following window will pop up on your screen Please enter User Name and Password, By default Username: SE & Password: 1234 or it can be different if changed by System Engineer

4 Step 1.3: Following window will appear if entered SE Password is correct When clicked on page we get option of Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer Click On This Link

5 Step 1.4: Once the FTP site is open it will again ask you username and password Note: If you are using Internet Explorer with version V6 or lower, then you will not get Steps 1.3 & 1.4 and it will take you directly to Step 1.5 Step 1.5: If the Username and password are correct then following screen will appear on your screen These are the files of the System software existing in ETERNITY

6 Step 1.6: Select all the files [Including Web folder] and delete them Step 1.7: System will not allow to delete Web folder and it will give error message [as shown below] but all contents inside the folder will get deleted Step 1.8: Now select the system software files of the appropriate version revision to which system is to be upgraded and upload them on the FTP of the system Note: Before uploading any new software to FTP of ETERNITY please ensure size of each file [in bytes] by following release note of respective software version Link to get release notes: On this page you need to click on: Access Technical Documents/Software [You can get your FTP Login details from our Technical Support Department] After uploading all software files [Including Web Folder] reboot the system You can choose any of option from following: 1> By using option of Restart The System from Jeeves 2> Power Off/On the system

7 Step 1.9: Now suppose if System is upgraded from V8 to V9, then whole configuration will get default and system can be accessed by using default IP: The system cannot be upgraded from version 8/version 9 to version 10. But if the system is upgraded within the same version [For example from V8R16 to V8R20] then it can be accessed from the same IP address which has configured in old software version. [Please refer the release notes of respective software version-revision to know which particular parameters get default] Step 1.10: Open the Web Jeeves to verify upgradation Step 1.11: Now login into SE mode and follow below shown snap to know the current version & Revision of the system Click On System Details

8 Upgradation/Degradation Procedure Using Windows Explorer This same upgradation process can also be done by directly opening FTP from Windows Explorer [By following below mentioned steps] Step 2.1: Open Windows Explorer [ My Computer ] and type following link ftp://se@ in address bar [Presume the IP of the system is which can be different also if changed earlier by SE Following window appears on the screen

9 Step 2.2: If given user name & Password are correct then following window will appear System Configuration SMDR Software Back Up Back Up Follow the Steps from 1.6 to 1.11 [of Web Jeeves Upgradation/Degradation Procedure] to complete rest of upgradation/degradation Frequently Asked Question Que: Some times during transferring system software files to FTP of ETERNITY power goes off. Is it possible to resume this upgradation? In this condition there is no dial tone on any extensions and not able to open Jeeves Ans: Yes it is possible to recover the system from this condition and following are steps for the same Switch on the system and open Windows Explorer or Web Browser Enter the following link in Explorer It will ask user to enter SE login details After entering correct details SE can delete partially uploaded Software files from System folder and paste software files again to complete rest of upgradation procedure by following steps from 1.5 to 1.11

10 How To Take Configuration Backup Of ETERNITY? Step 3.1: Open the Jeeves by entering IP assigned to ETERNITY IP Assigned To Access ETERNITY Please Click On The Following Link

11 Note: If your existing system version is V10RX then this option is available with name Upload/Download Configuration Step 3.2: After Opening FTP of ETERNITY it will ask for SE login details same as explained in Step 2, Step3 and Step4. Once the username and password given are correct following window will appear on the screen. These files are the backup configuration of the parameters programmed in the system.

12 Select All the Files and Copy in one folder. Location Of The Folder Where Back Up Files To Be Copied Select All The Files And Save In The Folder As Shown When backup files are copied please make sure the file size [in bytes] should be exactly same as it is on FTP. Some times due to expiry of FTP operation timer FTP session will be terminated [As shown above]. To prevent it you can copy configuration files in two stages. First copy half of configuration files Refresh FTP in Web Browser Select and copy rest of configuration files

13 You can perform same function using Windows Explorer also in place of using Web Browser as shown below Open the link in My Computer
