This assessment is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Each week from now until the start of the spring assessments, PARCC will post a sample test item to give parents and others a glimpse into the kinds of questions students can expect. You can view the samples and try them at http://parcconline.org/item-week-2015-01-08 Pasta Dinner: Please join us for the Forest School Pasta Dinner on Friday, January 30 from 5-7 p.m. Kindergarten Registration is Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. We look forward to welcoming our incoming kindergarten students and their families. A Letter From The President Hello Forest Families! Happy 2015 and welcome back to school! I hope each of you had a happy and safe great winter break. We have a busy second half of the school year with a lot of PTC activities taking place between now and the end of the school year including Pasta Dinner and Vendor Fair night, Forest Talent Show, Field Day, and much more. I hope you and your family will be able to participate in these activities. Read the upcoming newsletters for details on these events. Please join us for our next PTC meeting on Tuesday, February 10th at 7pm in the Forest Tile Room. It is open to all Forest Families and we encourage you to come. Childcare is available at no cost. At the door prices are$7.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids 12 and under. Kids 1 and under are free for both prepay and at the door. It s fun to get families together and meet new friends! FOREST PTC 2015 UPDATE When: January 30, 2015 Time: 6:00pm 9:00pm Where: Forest School When you re done eating, stop by the Silent Auction\Vendor Fair. We have many items to be bid on at the silent auction including Disney Park Hoppers; American Girl Tea, Lunch or Dinner; gift cards; a ride to school on a fire truck; your own private parking spot at Forest school; Sunset World.net Cancun 5day-4 nights @Laguna Suites Golf & Spa or Ocean Spa Hotel; gift baskets and more. We also have many vendors showcasing that evening. Come check out the awesome merchandise and treat yourself to something special. Vendors that will be there include USBorne books, Tupperware, Scentsy, children's jewelry Tastefully Simple, Jamberry Nails, Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, For Tails Only, Perfectly Posh and many more. Admission to the Silent Auction\Vendor Fair is free to all attending the Pasta Dinner. For those that just want to come for the Silent Auction\Vendor Fair entry will be available after 6:00PM with a $2 admission fee for adults.

Family Movie and Game Night February 6, 2015! Family movie and game night has been changed to Feb. 6th. Doors will open at 6:00. Come early to play some family games and stay for the movie, The Box Trolls! We are no longer accepting donations for admission, but we will still be selling raffle tickets, glow sticks and concessions! Don t forget your sleeping bag and pillow so you can be comfy while watching the movie. Please no outside food or drinks, all children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Forest Daisies Room Parties First grade Daisy Troop 40732 thanks all of the Forest families and staff that contributed to our hugely successful mitten drive. We donated FIVE large bags of winter accessories to the Des Plaines Self Help Pantry!! Congratulations and thank you to all the dedicated room parents who put together successful winter parties! Looking ahead...it s not too early to start planning for the Valentine s parties!! Here is the schedule of events for the day: Friday, February, 13 2:15-3:15pm Room parties 3:30pm Dismissal The PTC Hospitality Committee will provide plates, cups, napkins, bowls, and spoons.
