Save this page as a pdf to Google Drive You can read the information in Chrome but you cannot save the page in Chrome. To save the page, "print it" as a pdf using Google Cloud Print. 1. Select: Save to Google Drive ** The other printers listed here are printers you have added from the Chrome browser on your desktop or laptop computer. See Printing from the ipad for more information on how to set this up. In addition, each mobile device you install Chrome on will also be listed here as a device you can print to. Open the pdf document in Google Drive The web page that was opened in the Chrome browser is now a pdf document. It can be printed, annotated and edited. Tap the arrow to open the document's properties. Wherever Google Drive is installed, you can access your files and documents. On a computer, in your internet browser, eg Internet Explorer or Chrome, go to Google Drive drive.google.com Login to your Google Drive if required. The document's properties 1. Back on the ipad - Tap the Actions button. 2. Tap: Close to close the properties box. A document's action button - Explained 1. Share the document. Add email addresses of anybody you want to give access to - view, comment or edit access. 2. Rename the document Worksheet - Document management and Cloud Services on the ipad - 6
3. Move the document to another folder. 4. Delete the document. Remove it from Google Drive. This means it will disappear from all devices. Task: Add a new folder and move a document into it. Add a new folder to Google Drive. Tap the + and select: New Folder. Give the folder a name (eg; Saved Web Pages) and tap: Create. Now rename and move the pdf document: Advanced ipad Outline into the folder. 1. Tap the arrow to the right of the document's title. 2. Tap the Actions button. 3. Tap: Rename. Rename the document. Open the pdf document in Adobe Reader A good thoing about pdf documents is that they can be edited, annotated and you can even sign them - with a digital signature. Locate the document in your Google Drive and tap to open it. Tap the Sharing button and select Open in.. Select Open in Adobe Reader from the list of apps. Editing a document in Adobe Reader Tap the screen to bring up the options bar. 1. Tap the Editing tools. Download or open the document: Editing a document with Adobe Reader. text underline, text strikeout, freehand drawing, digital signature, typing new text, speech bubbles. Share the annotated document Close the Editing Tools. Save the document. Tap: Documents. This will save the document and take you back to the main menu. 1. Note the Sharing button. you will need it for the next step. 2. Share the annotated pdf to Goodreader All imported pdf documents appear in the document viewing pane. This has editing tools which are similar to Adobe Readers but more powerful. See Edit a pdf with Goodreader in the downloads page of technologyfueled.com. Also the Youtube video: How to edit a pdf in Goodreader. 1. Brightness. 2. Move the document to edit it in text mode. 3. Page orientation. Portrait or Landscape. 4. Page layout. Choose between single, page, continuous page layouts. 5. Crop the page. 6. Access Bookmarks you have created using the Bookmark editing tool. 7. Go to... Page. Go directly to a specific page in the document. 8. Search 9. Sharing. Email, print, open in another app. 10. Lock the document and make no further changes Tap the centre of the screen to bring up the editing tools and navigation tools. Tap My Documents to go back to the main Goodreader menu. Goodreader is a file management app, a viewer for pdf and other documents, a player for movies and music. It has very powerful mangement tools. It can also connect you to all your Cloud services: Google Drive, Skydrive, Box, Dropbox and even your home network. See the Youtube video: File management on the ipad using Goodreader. Rename the pdf document 1. Tap: Manage files. 2. Select the document you just imported. 3. Select: Rename from the Manage files section. Give the document a new title. Worksheet - Document management and Cloud Services on the ipad - 12
Add your Cloud Services Select: Connect to Servers. Tap: Add. Select one of your Cloud services that you have an account with. I will add Box.net as an example. You can upload and download files via Goodreader. When you save a web page as a pdf document, instead of opening it in Adobe Reader, select the option: Open in Goodreader. Adding the service: Box You need to sign in with your account username and password. You will only need to do this once. The Readable title is the name of the service. eg Readable title: Box. Tap: Add to finish. In the Connect to Servers section, tap the server and, now you have authenticated your details, it should open to reveal all your files and documents. Upload a file to Dropbox from Goodreader 1. Tap: Manage files 2. Select the file you want to upload to Dropbox. (** You must have added Dropbox in the Connect to Servers section and signed in before attempting this step). 3. Select Upload in the Manage Files section. 4. Select Dropbox from the list of servers. Check your Dropbox app for the uploaded file Close Goodreader and open Dropbox. Look for the file you just uploaded. Create a folder in Windows Skydrive Open the app: Windows Skydrive. Tap the Sharing button and select: Add Items, then select: Create a Folder. Give the folder a name, then tap: Create. Now close Skydrive, and let's share a document to the new folder. Open Adobe Reader and open the annotated document again Tap the screen to bring up the toolbar and select the Sharing button. Then tap: Open In... Share a folder in Windows Skydrive Open a folder in Skydrive, then tap: the sharing button, and then: Sharing and Permissions. 1. The name of the folder 2. THe name of the document. 3. Tap: Files to go back to the main menu Sharing a folder means anything in the folder can be accessed by anyone to whom you give the link. This would be good for photos. Instead of printing them or copying them onto a memory stick or DVD, access them online. Tap the + button to share the folder. Add the people you want to share the folder with. (Email it to yourself to test this). 1. Tap the + button to enter a name from your Contacts app or add an email address manually. (Allow Skydrive to access your contacts - if prompted). 2. Allow editing? Decide if you want the people you're sharing the folder with to edit the files inside the folder or just view them. 3. Tap: Add Worksheet - Document management and Cloud Services on the ipad - 23
This folder is now shared. The email address and the folder permissions are visible. Tap the arrow to remove or change the permissions. Task 2: Upload Photos and Videos to Google Drive 1. Create a new folder. Call it Photos. 2. Upload some existing photos from your Camera roll. Rename them if necessary. Move them into the new folder: Photos 3. Use the Camera - take a photo and a video and upload those to your Google Drive. Move them into the folder: Photos Dropbox - Explore the Menu 1. Access your files and folders. 2. Photos in Dropbox 1. Tap the Photos icon on the menu. 2. Photos can be uploaded automatically. If you did not turn this feature on when you installed Dropbox, you can enable it here. If you do not want every photo to be uploaded automatically, you can manually upload photos when you need to. 3. You can delete any uploaded photos. Tap the Edit button. Create a folder for your photos in Dropbox 1. Tap the Documents icon on the bottom menu. 2. Tap the... at the top and 3. Select: Create Folder. Give the folder a name - call it Photos, and tap: Create. Worksheet - Document management and Cloud Services on the ipad - 26
Upload a photo to Dropbox Open the folder you just created. Select the... at the top. Select: Upload Select a photo (s) from your Camera roll Take a photo with the camera if necessary. Share photos in Dropbox 1. Share the folder Tap the Dropbox icon for files and folders. Tap the Sharing button. You can share the entire folder. For example, tapping Email will generate a link that I can email to people. They can then see the photos in that folder. 2. Share an image Tap the Sharing icon. Select an option. eg email a link to the image 3. Other options Save to photo library; copy image to clipboard, Print 4. Delete an image. 5. Mark the image as a Favourite.
