2 Storing and sharing your content Personal Cloud stores and organizes your digital files, and you can easily share these files on any Smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac computers. You can easily share a single file or whole folders with friends and family, and have access to your Personal Cloud anywhere and anytime. Search and filter options make sure that files can be searched and filtered by name, status, file type, date or period, or in combinations of these. With Personal Cloud, you have the place for all your content. Getting started After you have installed the application, you need to set it up. Note: Make sure that your system clock is set to the current date and time; otherwise you may not be able to log in correctly. To set up the application: 1. Read the license terms carefully, and tap I agree. 2. In the Login window, enter your address and password, and tap Log in. The Name Your Device window opens. 3. Enter a name for this device, and tap Continue. 4. In the Select Content to Back Up screen, select the file types that you want to back up, and tap Finish. You have now set up the application for this device. How to use the application Using the Personal Cloud application, you can synchronize, view, download, and play your files. You can also share you content by or publish it in social networks. Managing your content Adding content manually You can add files to your Personal Cloud using the Add to Sync option. The pictures that you add manually using the Add to Sync option are stored in the Sync folder and included in the automatic backup. You can manually add one file at a time to your Personal Could, and a file can be added to the queue at any time. Note: Your device needs to have a working Internet connection to add files. To add content manually: 1. Tap the icon, and the Choose picture screen opens 2. Tap to select albums, date, or favorite. 3. In the view that opens, tap to select the picture that you want to add to the cloud. 2

3 Viewing statistics Personal Cloud will provide information about your subscription, used space, and backed up files. When you tap in the storage space screen, you can see the following information: Total - the total amount of space that is associated with your Personal Cloud Used - the total size of the files that you have already backed up In Trash - the total size of the files in the Trash Free - the amount of space available Buy more space will direct you to the Personal Cloud web page where you can inquire about purchasing more space if needed Automatic backup Automatic backup copies the photo s from your device to your Personal Cloud. Note: The Sync folder, which stores all the pictures that you manually add through the application, is automatically included in the backup. Automatic backup supports the following content types: Pictures - the default image content on the mobile device Using automatic backup Automatic backup is turned on when you select a content type or at least one file when setting up the backup. The application backs up the pictures from the Camera Roll and other albums. The files are added in random order. The maximum file size of pictures that can be added over a cellular connection is 5 MB; over a Wi-Fi connection with battery power 20 MB; and over a Wi-Fi connection with external power 100 MB. The speed and duration of transferring files depends on the file size, network use, and available resources on the host operating system. If you add a large number of files or a large amount of data, it may slow down your device. The first-time synchronization, which occurs when you log in for the first time, can be especially slow. For example, it may take upwards of 10 minutes over WiFi to synchronize a Windows Phone 8 device with files. During this initial synchronization, file names, thumbnails, and metadata are downloaded from your Personal Cloud. In the Automatic Backup settings, you can view how many pictures you have backed up. You can see the network indicator on the status bar and the file transfer percentage in the toolbar when files are being backed up. The backed up content from each of the devices you set up is visible on all other connected devices. Backup rules You Personal cloud application detect common file formats in the previously listed content types. With Windows Phone 8, you can currently back up only pictures. When the application is running, automatic backup is turned on, and you have selected the content to back up, the application automatically backs up the files in the background. All changes to the backed up files are synchronized to your Personal Cloud immediately. 3

4 Changing backup settings You can change the backup settings through the Backup settings view. To change the settings: 1. Tap the icon. 2. Tap Settings > Automatic backup. 3. The Backup settings window shows the number of files selected for backup. Change the backup settings as needed. If you remove a content type, the content that is already backed up remains in the cloud. Synchronizing files between devices The Personal Cloud application synchronizes files automatically and transparently between multiple devices. In the desktop applications, all files that you add to the Sync folder are automatically synchronized to all connected devices. In the mobile applications, files that you add to the Sync folder are synchronized across your connected devices. If you have an Internet connection, you can see the synchronized files in your Personal Cloud and download them to your device. Note: Files are synchronized on the devices that have the application running. If the application is not running on a device, files are synchronized when you log in to the Personal Cloud application. Note: You may not be able to view all files on every device. The ability to open a file type depends on the operating system in use and the applications installed on the device. Synchronization rules and conflict resolution Synchronization is based on version control. When multiple or successive files with the same name and location are transferred to the cloud, only the file that was last changed is stored and made available. As the Personal Cloud application supports multiple devices and platforms, character and encoding restrictions on different platforms mean that the above rule does not always apply. In such cases, an additional file is created both locally on the device and in your Personal Cloud. An extension "conflict" is added to the name of the additional file, which indicates a conflict state. Note: This behavior is also used to handle unexpected synchronization conflicts. Viewing your content Devices The Devices view shows all of the devices that you have registered to your Personal Cloud. Clicking a device name shows you the folder structure of that device. The Devices view shows first the folders, and then the files based on the device from which they were uploaded. 4

5 Finding your content You can use filtering to find and view a specific set of your files. You can search the content in your Personal Cloud using the navigation, search and filtering options. The following filtering options are available: Device Status File name To find your content: 1. To filter content by file type, under home, select the file type that you want to view. You can select one of the following: - Pictures - Videos - Music - Documents - Other 2. To filter content by its status, go to collections, and then select the file status that you want to use as a filter. You can select favorites, local files or shared files. 3. To find content by folders based on a specific device from which the files were added to your Personal Cloud, go to devices, and then select the desired device. 4. To find content in the Sync folder, go to sync. You can see all the files in the Sync folder. 5. You can also find content by searching. You can search for a file, folder, artist, song or album. To search for content, enter a keyword in the search field at the bottom of the screen to filter content by file name. Only the files with the selected filtering status are shown. Playing multimedia files If you have added multimedia files to your Personal Cloud, you can play them on your device. To play multimedia files: 1. In the home view, scroll down to videos or music, and tap view all to see all the files. 2. Tap the file that you want to play. 3. Tap the Play button. The player starts playing the multimedia file. 5
