Dorset Studio School Trust Partner organisations: The Thomas Hardye School Line Manager: Line Management: Kingston Maurward College Principal Dorset Studio School Administrative Staff School Business Manager - Main accountabilities To support and assist the Principal in developing, marketing and establishing the new Dorset Studio School to open in September 2014. The Studio School will have a maximum capacity of 375 students aged 13 19. Under the direction of the Principal, and working in close partnership with the Thomas Hardye School, Kingston Maurward College, the Studio School Trust and the Department for ducation; to lead, develop and implement the establishment of necessary management, human resources, data, administrative, financial, admissions and other support services and systems. To act as assistant to the Principal in all matters including day-to-day administration operation and to create and deliver a shared vision and strategic plan which includes all members of the School community, which is supported by strong employer engagement. To develop and utilise employer engagement strategies that can facilitate input to the curriculum and work placements for students, contributing to the project based learning culture of the School. Key Tasks To provide comprehensive, confidential, efficient and effective support to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team. nsuring all services provided are of a high quality and to set standards. 4

1. Provision of day-to-day administrative and operational support for the Principal including P.A. duties as required e.g. diary management and event organisation/management. 2. Working with Kingston Maurward College in the initial phase of the school, to develop, establish and implement efficient and cost effective support services, systems, policies, processes and procedures which will, amongst others, include: Financial, including internal and external audit; Human resources /payroll; Information technology; Health & Safety; states and facilities including catering and free school meals; Transport and travel; Administrative support. This is not an exhaustive list and other key services will be identified during the pre-opening phase and detailed project development. 3. Responsible for the administration of the Start-Up Grant and any other funding allocated to Dorset Studio School during the start-up phase and ensuring value for money and efficiency of resources. This will include processing budgetary transactions e.g. travel claims, petty cash, orders etc. on behalf of the Principal. 4. Working with relevant partners and organisations to establish excellent working relationships for the Studio School, including identifying best practice from other Studio Schools. 5. Attending marketing events, open evenings, public and consultation meetings and other events, activities or meetings as necessary to market, promote and establish the Studio School. This may include working some evenings and occasional events during a weekend. 6. Attending relevant network meetings and events to represent the interests of the Studio School e.g. local School Manager or Local Authority meetings, community or business events, other events involving the Studio School partners and sponsors. 7. Procurement and contract management of services. 8. Data collection, tracking and targets for management reporting. 9. Under the direction of the Principal, manage the safeguarding process and adherence to procedures. 10. Appointment and management of administrative support staff. 5

11. Seeking suitable, timely and appropriate professional advice, independently of the sponsor or partner organisations if necessary to avoid any conflict of interest and protect the interests of the Studio School. 12. Develop a suitable knowledge of the Studio School curriculum, staffing and delivery models to ensure appropriate and outstanding support services are developed and provided. 13. To contribute to the development of services aimed at anticipating and meeting customer needs; developing service standards and team/individual performance. 14. Under the direction of the Principal to support the provision of relevant marketing material including management of the schools website, school publicity PR, social media, event organisation and management. 15. Organisation of school transport and travel. 16. Under the direction of the Principal, manage quality assurance processes. 17. Drafting correspondence for an internal and external audience and handling of confidential and sensitive correspondence and information. 18. Network management in liaison with internal and external agencies (where appropriate). 19. To comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and adhere to the requirements of all staff to maintain confidentiality in respect of governors, staff, employers, parents, pupils and members of the public. 20. To be responsible and accountable for carrying out the post with regard to the school s Safeguarding Policy, qual Opportunity Policy, Health and Safety at Work Act and any other relevant policies and procedures. 21. Manage and organise filing and record keeping both manually and computerised. 22. Produce and update school documentation. 23. Administration of curriculum timetabling, in liaison with the Lead Learning Coach. 24. Management of the admission process. 25.
