OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES This conference is designed for physicians, nurses, social workers, childbirth educators, postnatal educators, doulas, chaplains and other allied health professionals and students who honor, support and serve patients and families who experience pregnancy and infant loss. At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to: Describe specific processes, practices and behaviors caregivers can use to strengthen and improve their care for patients and families. Understand and apply strategies that help caregivers attend to their own sorrow and healing while working with patients and families. ACCREDITATION This activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements for 7.2 hours of credit. However, the nurse is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education. Social workers will be provided appropriate documentation to apply for credits. This educational event provides 6.0 hours of continuing education that can be applied to the educational hours required by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Individuals representing other professional disciplines may submit course materials to their respective professional associations for 6.0 hours of continuing education credit. TUITION All professional caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend this unique conference. Tuition is $150.00 for all attendees including Allina employees and affiliates. Tuition includes conference materials, light continental breakfast, lunch and parking. Advance registration is required. CANCELLATION POLICY Tuition is refundable (less a 25% handling fee) only if registration is cancelled in writing and is received at Allina Learning & Development at least 14 days prior to the conference. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Ellen Bendel-Stenzel, MD FAAP, is a neonatologist with Children s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and co-director of clinical research on the Minneapolis Children s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for Minnesota Neonatal Physicians. She is also the Medical Director of the Neonatal Care Unit at Ridgeview Medical Center as part of a collaborative partnership with Children s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Ellen joined the staff of Children s Hospital in 1998 after completing her MD, Pediatric Residency, and Neonatology Fellowship training at the University of Minnesota. She is a member the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society (IFMSS) and has been honored as a Top Doc by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine where she and her colleague, Dr. William Block, were profiled in a feature story in August, 2013.
