Minimum System Requirements 32-bit Windows Operating System (XP, Vista, Windows 7) Open PCI Slot with room for Techno PCI Card (Will NOT work with PCI Express) Intel Pentium 4 Processor (Dual or Quad Core recommended) Please Note: 1) If you use Windows 7 or Vista you must turn off User Account Control (UAC) before installing the software. (Details on how-to turn off UAC: http://www.docs.technorouters.com/index.php?title=how_ to_turn_off_uac) 2) We recommend using Windows XP or newer. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 98, therefore it is harder to obtain the appropriate Windows patches and updates to run the new Techno CNC Interface software successfully. 3) Additional information on Choosing a PC and System Requirements can be found online at: http://www.docs.technorouters.com/index. php?title=computer_requirements. I. UNPACKING AND MACHINE IDENTIFICATIONS All Techno machines are shipped assembled and secured to a wooden pallet. If your machine was shipped disassembled in any way please refer to the Reassembly Instructions provided with your machine. PICTURE 1: Underside View of Machine Front of Machine STEP 1: Unpack all items that shipped with your machine. Check the items against the packing slip to be sure nothing was left out. Notify Techno immediately if you are missing any pieces of your shipment. WARNING: The machine is extremely heavy. Use caution when lifting the machine. Please note the four lifting handles on the sides of the machine and the four adjustable leveling feet on the underside of the machine, PICTURE 1 shows both. You can also see the use of a forklift to raise the machine out of its packing crate as well. Patriots purchased with the optional stand will have adjustable height casters at the bottom of the stand s legs. Rear of Machine PICTURE 2: Leveling Foot Up close STEP 2: STEP 3: Raise the Patriot onto the table top it will be operated on. If you need to adjust the leveling feet follow the steps below. If not continue to the next page. Determine whether or not the table top on which you have the patriot setup on is level, and which side of your machine will needs adjustments. All four leveling feet will be installed before your machine leaves Techno. PICTURE 3: Adjusting the Leveling Feet To adjust the leveling feet unscrew the desired foot to the height needed, unscrewing the leveling foot towards the left will raise the height. Repeat for each leveling foot that needs to be adjusted. Tel: 516/328-3970 Web: http://www.technocnc.com E-mail support@technocnc.com 3

I. MACHINE IDENTIFICATIONS (cont.) The Techno Patriot has a specially designed safety interlocking mechanism to prevent the operation of the machine without the interlock activated, or by use of the teacher s override key. This key will be zip-tied to the front of your machine. Remove the zip-tie and keep in a safe place. PICTURE 4: Teachers Override Key There are two functions of Teacher s Override Key: PICTURE 5: Teacher s Override Key Turning the Teacher s Override Key to the left, will unlock the door to the Patriot unconditionally. Once this door is unlocked the spindle will turn off until the door is closed again. Turning the Teacher s Override Key to the right, will bypass the safety interlock mechanism and allow the spindle to turn on even with the door open. The updated Patriot CNC Routers now have a functional USB Port on the front of the machine next to the E-Stop Start/Stop Box. If you purchase a Patriot CNC Router with the optional stand, you are able to place the computer tower under the machine. If you purchase a Patriot CNC Router without the stand you may still utilize the USB port, however you would need to place the computer tower in close proximity to the machine. PICTURE 6: USB Port on the Machine The USB Port acts as an extension cord for a USB stick and the machines computer. By plugging the USB port wire into the computer, at the same time you connect the SCSII cable to the computer, you can then plug a USB stick into the USB port on the front of the machine and the computer will read the files. Tel: 516/328-3970 Web: http://www.technocnc.com E-mail support@technocnc.com 4

APPENDIX A - COLLETING GUIDELINES COLLETING GUIDELINES WRONG! RIGHT! This picture shows an improper assembly. Notice the gap and angle of the collet in relation to the nut. The collet is not flush to the end of the collet nut. Correct this assembly before using. DO NOT PUSH THE COLLET INTO THE SPINDLE AT ANY TIME! Only the proper assembly should be screwed onto the spindle. The picture above is how your collet nut assembly should look: the end of the collet is flush with the bottom surface of the collet nut. You will hear and feel a SNAP as the collet properly goes into the collet nut. Once it is assembled, then SCREW the nut onto the threaded spindle end. FOR TOOLCHANGE AND FIXED COLLET SPINDLES: ONLY USE TOOLHOLDERS, COLLET NUTS AND TOOLS THAT ARE BALANCED TO MEET OR EXCEED THE MAX RATED SPEED OF THE SPINDLE. THE SPINDLE WILL BE DAMAGED IF UNBALANCED EQUIPMENT IS USED! ALL AUTOMATIC TOOL CHANGE SPINDLES REQUIRE FILTERED DRY AIR. THIS MIGHT REQUIRE THE ADDITION OF A WATER REMOVAL SYSTEM TO YOUR AIR COMPRESSOR. SUPPLYING WATER SATURATED AIR TO THE ATC SPINDLE WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE THAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
