Students should arrive between 6:45 and 7:30. After singing, the students will return to their parents for supervision. Attendance Reminders Tardy: It is important for students to arrive on time to school. It is to their benefit to begin their day at school with their classmates. Thank You for recognizing the importance of your child arriving on time. Keep up the great work! Attendance: Tea Area School District recognizes the importance of attendance. Good attendance provides the best chance for success throughout your child s school year. *Letters will be sent home when your child is tardy or absent a certain number of times. Please check your JK-4 Handbook for further information. Times are offered on a first come, first serve basis. You will need to bring a copy of your child s birth certificate and copies of their immunization records to registration. Please help us spread the word to families whose oldest child is eligible for Kindergarten in 2016. If you have any questions regarding Kindergarten registration or screening, please call us at 498-2700 option 2 or e-mail mari.mehlbrech@k12.sd.us. **Change in Visitor Lunch Policy Visitors are no longer allowed to charge their lunch to a student account. A separate payment must be made in the office. The price of a visitor lunch is $3.55. Please let the office know by 8:45 a.m. if you plan to have lunch with a student. You can e-mail Mari at mari.mehlbrech@k12.sd.us or call 498-2700 option 2. Recess Reminder We will be going outside for recess unless the temperature falls below zero. Please dress your child appropriately with heavy coats, snow pants, hats, mittens, and boots. Happy Valentine s Day! Class parties for Valentine s Day will be held in February. Junior K & Kindergarten will be celebrating the 100 th Day of School on February 12 th. Look for more information to come from the classroom teachers. Leap into Literacy Night On Monday, Feb. 29 th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Frontier teachers will be holding an exciting event called Frontier Family Literacy Night. The night will be about connecting home and school education. Literacy is a fun and effective way to build important reading skills. Students will leave with useful information, a book, strategies for reading and games to enjoy playing at home. Father/Daughter Dance TAAPS is sponsoring a Father/Daughter dance at Legacy Elementary in Tea on February 12th for all K-6th Grade Students from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per father and his date(s). The $20 includes entrance into the dance, a surprise for every daughter, and a chance to win some really cool door prizes. There will be basic concessions available for purchase. Bring your camera for the photo booth! Roller Skating (JK 6 th Grade) TAPTO is sponsoring a roller skating night on Feb. 16 th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Skate City in Sioux Falls. Admission is $4.50 + $1.50 Skate rental. Hot Dog, Chips & Drink meal deal available for $3.00. Parents must stay with their students while skating. National School Counseling Week: National School Counseling Week 2016, "School Counseling: The Recipe for Success," will be celebrated from Feb. 1-5, 2016. This week is celebrated to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students with academics, social-emotional and career plans to help have future success. Frontier 3 rd & 4 th Graders enjoyed a visit to the Wellness Center during their basketball unit in January.

Frontier Elementary Leap into Literacy Night! On Monday, February 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room, the Frontier teachers will be holding an exciting event called Frontier Family Literacy Night. Frontier teachers are providing an opportunity for all students and their families to come to school to learn about reading strategies and literacy games to aid in becoming better readers. Parents are their child s first and most influential teacher. This night will be about connecting home and school education. Literacy is a fun and effective way to build important reading skills. A book will be given to all children in attendance. Reading strategies and different literacy-based games will be taught. Students will leave with useful information, a book, strategies for reading and games to enjoy playing at home. So that we have the correct number of booklets printed, please RSVP to your child s teacher by Monday, February 21st. Simply fill out the section below and send it back to school with your child.
