Operational reliability Transmission of data and energy Each AS-Interface message is monitored in the receiver with regard to parity bit and several other independent values. This guarantees an extremely high safety for the detection of one or several errors. A repetition of the message takes 150 µs and is included in the cycle time of 5 ms. AS-Interface can be used under extreme conditions (e.g. panel mounting, lower ceilings etc.) without any problem.
What savings can be made with AS-Interface? Hardware I/O cards for plc,pc smaller control cabinet cable glands multi-pole connector cable ducts, cable trays slip rings / trailing cables terminal chambers shunting terminals cable / wiring Savings shorter installation time shorter testing time faster commissioning faster creation of circuit diagrams less labelling for cables and terminals simpler documentation faster diagnosis shorter waiting time
Additional benefits of of AS-Interface... incorrect wiring is avoided extension without changing the control cabinet extension at any position in the system installation partly possible by non-electricians (after short introduction) prefabrication of the installation in the factory instead of on the construction site
