Supply Chain With an increasing amount of Airbus activity being outsourced to strategic partners, supply chain management is key to driving the growth strategy and to ensure that the company continues to deliver its customer targets. Within the last 12 months the team s activity has increased by some 70%. The Supply Chain Centre of Competence is an international team that is involved in planning, negotiation and procurement of all materials and suppliers used in the manufacture of aircraft. Working together with other departments, Airbus can now produce an aircraft made of 7 million parts in approximately 6 hours. Key responsibilities: Identification and qualification of suppliers and analysis of their capacity to deliver the services required by Airbus Conduct supplier performance management audits and implement performance improvements if required Material ordering and logistic organisation to Airbus locations Supply Chain Field Engineer Propulsion System Supply Chain Manager Supply Chain Logistics/Quality Manager Qualification required: A Degree in engineering or other relevant technical discipline is preferred but not essential if the candidate has a strong supply chain background. Experience: It is essential for candidates applying for Field Engineer roles to have experience in Lean and 6-Sigma methodologies and industry knowledge of supply chain issues. Configuration Management Configuration Management is a key driver to ensure quality assurance throughout the life cycle of a product by managing and controlling what is being developed and produced. It has an impact on all Airbus activities, from product development, engineering, and manufacturing through to project/programme and quality management. The Configuration Management team works across all business Functions, Programmes and Sites. It is based within the Design Office Quality Center of Competence. Due to the increase of deliveries and needs of certification, Configuration Management is becoming increasingly important within the industry, and there are fantastic opportunities to gain experience across a multitude of departments. Configuration Management is about much more than documentation. It is about understanding every aspect of a product and how it is to be developed. No new product developments can begin until Configuration Management has documented and approved the development plan. Composite Design Over recent years, the use of composite materials has undergone enormous growth. The role of composite design has also evolved greatly, to encompass a skill set that reflects this change in usage. From predominantly being a design role, it now focuses on project management and integration of design of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. Key responsibilities: Design drawings and definition of design principles Development of analysis tools for Stress Engineers Composite testing Co-ordination of materials design research projects Composite/Metallic Stress Engineer Lead Composite Metallic Stress Engineer Design composite structure engineer Qualification required: Experienced professionals with a Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering. Experience: It is essential to have a background in either an engineering or manufacturing industry and a working knowledge of CAD/design tools e.g. CATIA/FEM. Previous experience in the aerospace sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
Lean The implementation of Lean principles is a core, strategic objective within Airbus, and all Lean business activities are now coordinated at a global level by Lean Centre of Competence established to plan, manage and implement the Airbus Lean strategy throughout the organisation.
