PART-TIME COURSES 2015/16

WELCOME NPTC Group was created as a result of a merger between two highly successful and well-established colleges (Neath Port Talbot College and Coleg Powys). The new College boasts twelve campuses covering 30 per cent of the country s landmass and reaching 270,000 residents from south to north Wales. We now provide one of the widest ranges of subject choices for learners in Wales with courses that appeal to all ages and interests. It is estimated that 70 per cent of the working population that will be required for employment in 2020 are already in work! Therefore, up-skilling your existing skills, knowledge and understanding are the best way to securing better employment or enhancing your existing employment. It is your chance to make sure that the choices you make are right for your future. You may want to study a language for your next holiday abroad or need to brush up on your Maths and Science, particularly as your children s homework is increasing! Finally, I wish you every success in your studies, whether for enjoyment or employment, or both. See you in September. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Course Fees All fees must be paid at the time of enrolment. They will include an administration fee of 50 that every student enrolling for a course MUST pay in order to be registered as an NPTC Group student. On payment of the course fee, students will be issued with an identity card, entitling you to be on College premises and enabling you to use the Learning Resource Centres and refectories. Third Party Payments Where students nominate a third party to pay for the course, supporting evidence, e.g. Employer s Certificate or formal letter, must be brought to the College at the time of enrolment. Failure to do this will result in the student being liable for the full fees themselves. Instalments An instalment plan is available to any student paying the full fee of 100. One-third of the payment is payable at enrolment. An administration charge for this service of 30 payable with the first instalment. Students will then be invoiced for the remaining two-thirds. After more than four weeks of the start date of the course, all fees are due and must be paid on receipt of invoice. Examination & Registration Fees Students are responsible for paying registration, examinations and NVQ assessment entry fees where appropriate. Refund of Fees If the College cancels a class or moves a group to a different day, time or venue and this is unacceptable to the student, the course fees along with any other fees paid will be refunded. Should a student wish to withdraw from a course within the first four weeks of the start date, the course fee would be refunded and an administration fee of 50 will be deducted from any refund due. After more than four weeks of the start date of the course, no refunds will be given. Students in receipt of reduced course fees would not be entitled to a refund of course fees. Any examination/registration fees not already paid to the awarding bodies would be refunded. For further information, please contact: Neath Campus: 01639 648000 Afan Campus: 01639 648200 Brecon Beacons Campus: 0845 4086 400 Newtown Campus: 0845 4086 200 Direct Debits A Direct Debit plan is available to any student paying the full fee. An administration charge for this service of 30 will be added to this cost. Please contact the finance department at the Neath Campus for further information. 40

Higher Education Fees Higher Education course fees are shown per academic year. The fees are dependent on the number of credits you study. Students may choose to study more credits than what is expected. If this is the case, the fee will reflect the number of credits you actually study. The College does not give reduced fees for HE courses but Higher Education students can usually access financial support for part-time HE courses in the form of a fee loan and/or course grant. More information can be found on this and the other financial support available through the Student Finance Wales website: www.studentfinancewales.co.uk/part-time-students.aspx. Non-payment of Fees If fees are not paid, the College will take steps to recover the outstanding amount, which may lead to debt recovery action. In the event of the third party, e.g. an employer, failing to pay, the student will become liable for the full cost of the course. Financial Support There s a variety of grants available to help you pay for your tuition fees, course costs and your living costs while studying part-time at College. The criteria for eligibility is dependent on individual circumstances, therefore any student who wishes further information should, in the first instance, contact: Student Services on 01639 648404 or e-mail: studentservices@nptcgroup.ac.uk. ESF Supported Programmes As a result of ESF funding, selected courses at the College may be offered free. You will be advised at enrolment if the course you are joining falls into this category. ESF-supported programmes may also enable students to receive additional funding for transport costs, childcare and other related costs. DID YOU KNOW? There are discounted rates for NPTC Group students in the gym, crèche and beauty salons! 41
