No overtime is payable, however, under certain circumstances time off in lieu is possible. JOB SUMMARY About MSC The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international non-profit organization established to address the problem of unsustainable fishing and safeguard seafood supplies for the future. We use our blue MSC label and fishery certification program to contribute to the health of the world s oceans. Marketing Manager The Marketing Manager role is a new position responsible for growing consumer awareness for the vision of the Marine Stewardship Council and the value represented by its blue ecolabel. Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing Manager has national scope, with focus on a two core areas of responsibility: Digital marketing. Responsible for strategy, plan development, implementation and results tracking/reporting. o Position oversees social media channels and website, developing content, social engagement strategies, advertising initiatives and digital assets. The Marketing Manager coordinates digital activity with the MSC s Global Social Media Manager and Head of Digital and Innovation. Partner marketing. Develops co-promotions and joint campaigns and events with key MSC business partners, primarily in the grocery and food service sectors. Initiatives may include both online and traditional marketing elements. This will involve liaison with commercial colleagues and the Global Head of Marketing. With excellent interpersonal and networking skills, the MSC Marketing Manager works to build consumer awareness across digital media channels, collaborating closely with partners to amplify our voice to influence the choices people make when buying seafood. B RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing strategy and initiative implementation Work with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager in delivering the MSC US marketing strategy, including implementing annual plans for our retail and food service engagement programs. Provide MSC point of contact for partner marketing/media to coordinate and implement planned activity.
Work with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, and colleagues in the global marketing and communications team, to develop and deliver consumer promotional activity that will meet objectives in building sales of MSC-labeled products and engagement with the MSC Project-manage the design and delivery of promotional materials Coordinate related outreach activity, including public engagement campaigns, advertising, social media, and cooperative partner programs. Develop success measures; track and record results to determine best practices. Recommend plan opportunities / improvement. Digital media strategy and implementation Responsible for day-to-day management and updating of the MSC US website and social media presence Devise and deliver the MSC US website and social media strategy based on audience analysis and industry best practices Deliver an annual plan of website and social media content and activities within agreed budgets in line with the overall marketing-communications strategy and plan Work with the media manager to develop integrated multi-channel communications plans and strategies which incorporate social media tactics alongside other communications channels Identify social media opportunities with partners and pitch campaigns and promotions. Work with partners to build cooperative campaigns. Monitor, evaluate and analyze relevant website and social media conversations using Google analytics and the MSC global social media listening tool Respond to and participate in conversations about the MSC and the wider issues across MSC s social media presences reflecting MSC s tone of voice, values and key messaging, involving colleagues and partners where necessary. Partnerships and Events Establish good relationships with key stakeholders and other partners Develop annual plan with event and trade show owners; orchestrate implementation with owners. Provide US marketing team point of contact, working with the project team responsible for the MSC presence at the annual Boston Seafood Show. Represent MSC at trade and consumer events as appropriate. C PERSON SPECIFICATION Experience Demonstrated strength in strategic marketing planning Expertise in marketing and communications, with a track record of managing successful promotions and events Demonstrated experience of coordinating internal and external partners and stakeholders in successful delivery of projects or promotions
Demonstrated project management skills with an emphasis on building good relationships internally and externally Experience producing excellent promotional materials and digital assets Previous experience of managing the work of external design and communications agencies, in the delivery of marketing, events or communications activities Excellent copywriting skills, especially the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and simply to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders Initiative to engage directly with stakeholders through social media conversations, and good judgement to involve relevant senior colleagues when conversations approach more sensitive issues Great computer literacy, including high levels of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CMS, Google Analytics, social media monitoring and engagement tools such as HootSuite Business, marketing or communications degree; MBA would be an advantage. Skills Excellent written and verbal (presentation) communication skills in English; a relevant second language (especially Spanish) would be desirable, but not essential Ability to analyze research and information and report concisely Ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally Ability to combine a strategic but hands-on approach. Ability to prioritize a heavy workload. Excellent organizational and computer skills, and an ability to develop efficient processes. Experience working with designers/agencies to develop creative assets; expertise in developing creative briefs to clearly articulate strategic direction.
