WHAT NEXEN NEW GRADS ARE SAYING The best advice I can give is to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way, and don t be afraid of change. - On what is one piece of advice for a student? Cynthia Sawatzky (Geologist in Training) The main reason I chose Nexen was that I felt they would be able to offer me challenging projects on important assets which would allow me to develop myself as an engineer quickly. I was also attracted to the work culture and work life balance which has proven to be equally as important. - On why did you choose to start your career at Nexen? Kevin Gallagher (Engineer in Training) Always get relevant work experience through co-op s, internships or summer jobs when you re in school. It doesn t matter how long it takes you to graduate, work experience is one of the most important things to have on your resume. - On what is one piece of advice for a student? Lindsay Ostrom (Finance New Grad) I accepted a Nexen new grad position based on my co-op term at Long Lake in Fort McMurray. Working with all disciplines from process operators to fire fighters was a great experience and it taught me a lot about Nexen s operations. - On why did you choose to start your career at Nexen? Matt Maciejewski (HR New Grad) During the selection process, I was fascinated to learn that Nexen is committed to community development, and the company provides wonderful opportunities to new grads like me to develop skills as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) candidates while learning about the oil & gas industry. All these facts were very inspirational and motivated me to be part of the Nexen team. - On why did you choose to start your career at Nexen? Michelle Xu (Accounting New Grad) Since starting my new grad role at Nexen, the people have been extremely approachable and helpful. There is a strong sense of community and collaboration, and no matter what you come across everyone is willing to guide you in the right direction. - On how would you describe the people at Nexen? Jeniece Galeano (Engineer in Training) I had the opportunity to be one of the main Production Engineers on site, for one of the biggest projects in the world during my first field rotation. There are not too many jobs in the world where you get to be involved with mega projects so early in your career. - On what has been a highlight for you so far at Nexen? Zsolt Vigh (Engineer in Training)
