Konti Skan Replacement of Cable 1 Presentation of the project 1
Agenda Background for the project Scope of Work for the cable delivery Eletrical Requirements Type Test Route description Time Schedule 2
Background The Konti Skan connection consists of a combination of HVDC overhead line,-land cable and submarine cable. The three cables between Jutland and Laesoe is configured such a way that cable 2 together with one conductor from cable 1 is used for the KS1 converter and cable 3 with one conductor from cable 1 is used for the KS2 converter. The new cable is to be used for the KS1 converter, and the existing cables 2 and 3 are to be connected in parallel for use in KS2 converter. 3
Scope of work # 1 Submarine Cable Cable type Cable Length : MIND (Mass Impregnated Non Draining) : 25 km (including 1,5 km spare cable) Accessories End terminations : 3 pcs (incl. one spare) Submarine repair joints : 4 pcs Other Installation of end terminations Basket for spare cable according to ENDK specifications 4
Scope of work # 2 Option for Transport and Laying of Submarine Cable The Cable manufacturer is obliged to give a price on the option for Transport and Laying of the submarine Cable Options for surveys and guard vessels Project Management Project meetings (at factory, in Denmark (both at site and at Energinet.dk) Monthly progress reports Etc. 5
Electrical Requirements Cable Voltage Rated DC Cable Voltage Max continuous DC Cable Voltage Lightning Impulse withstand Voltage Switching Surge withstand Voltage Rated current : 282 kv : 285 kv : 850 kv : 685 kv : 1347,5 A Under the following pretenses Thermal resistivity : 1 K*m/W Temperature of the surrounding soil : 20 C Burial depth: 1 m (sea); 1,3 m (land) Maximal fault current Conductor type Cross Section : 20 ka for 0.3 sec. : Profile/Keystone : 1200 mm² Cu 6
Type Test If no valid type test is present, the manufacturer needs to perform an accepted type test the year before delivery. E.g. if the cable is to be delivered in 2014, an accepted type test is to be performed before the end of 2013. A valid type test is a test that is not too old and has a similar design with a equal to or higher than the voltage level than for the project specified 285 kv DC. 7
Route #1 The new route is the blue route Length is approx. 23,5 km Max depth is around 30 m Landings Jutland: 400 m horizontal directional drilling + 150 m open trench to the station. Laesoe: 800 m horizontal directional drilling + 800 m open trench to the station 8
Route #2 9
Route #3 Conditions of the seabed A survey of the planned cable route will not be performed prior to or within the tender period. However Energinet.dk has in 2012 completed a seabed survey approximately 1.0 1.5 nautical miles north of the planned cable route. The results from this survey will be submitted to the tenderers. A survey of the trace will be performed as a part of environmental investigations in the spring/summer of 2013. Approx 100 % sandy sea floor, with some minor obstacles (chalk mushrooms, made through bubbles of natural gas from the sea floor). From previous projects in the past we know that the sea floor is jettable, and that the submarine can be directly laid on the seafloor and that no pre-dredging is not needed. Landings will be done using HDD s at both ends (HDD s are not to be part of this tender) 10
